U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents detained 13 Cuban migrants on Tuesday morning near Key West.
According to Chief Patrol Agent Thomas G. Martin, the migrants were part of a “smuggling event” and agents detained them after they made landfall in a “rustic vessel.”
If they don’t qualify as asylum seekers, officials will likely be deporting the group back to Cuba.
Having experienced the “joys” of Communism, they’re not the voters the Left is looking for. But then, neither were the Vietnamese whose refugee status and migration to the US were opposed by the Democrats. Including President Asterisk.
Meanwhile, future Democrat voters poor entrepreneurial migrants just seeking a better life flood into the US, are put on busses, both civilian and military planes, and distributed around the country. And doubtless to be resettled into the rezoned suburbs in the name of flipping red-leaning districts blue diversity and cultural vibrancy… as will the untold thousands of unvetted and paperless Afghans heroes. In my career I have been introduced to the useful idea of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis. One of its fundamentals is that in assessing risk, it is not just the raw percentage chance of something happening that is important, but the consequences of it happening. E.g., from memory, an article from a few decades ago said that the actual risk of an asteroid or comet impact is incredibly small… but that it’s a significant risk because of the potential damage should such an impact occur.
But in a fascinating book about survival, The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes – and Why, I learned that people make huge errors in assigning actual risk levels. One of the factors is dread. Relentless dread overrides saner, calmer risk assessments. One of the stats I’ve read is that over some not-in-memory distance, driving is statistically more dangerous than flying. Yet there are people who refuse to fly and insist on driving, because they dread being in a plane crash.
What have we been exposed to, relentlessly, for well over a year? Fear porn. Yuri Bezmenov was completely right. Between unremitting terror being pumped into us, the ever-shifting “science” of masks, the lockdowns, then lifted, then reimposed, etc., creating confusion, people just throw up their hands and scream I’LL DO WHAT YOU WANT JUST MAKE IT STOP!
Thus, people smile and outright ignore information like this; Japan Finds More Contaminated COVID-19 Vaccines Containing Black Particles and Romania Stops Vaccine Imports, Shutters Vaccination Centers, Transfers Vaccine Stocks to Denmark, Vietnam, Ireland, S. Korea, etc. Dismiss warnings like this; Covid-19 spike protein binds to and changes cells in the heart. Scoff at graphs like this one, found at Surak:
