In August 2020, the Maine staff of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) voted to unionize. In February 2021, the Vermont staff of PPNNE also voted to form a union. In April 2021, it was announced that PPNNE’s long-time president had unexpectedly resigned.

After the Vermont staff unionized, the president of PPNNE, Meagan Gallagher, said:
One of our guiding principles is that we are in this together. We look forward to collaborating with the union to build an even stronger organization.
Two months later, the PPNNE Board Chair, Margot Milliken emailed supporters to let them know the president had quit and the organization is being led by a transition team:
I’m writing to share the news that after eight years leading Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, and more than twenty years with the Planned Parenthood family, Meagan Gallagher recently announced that she is moving on from PPNNE and will no longer serve as President and CEO.
During a transition period, Meagan is supporting a stellar Interim Transition Team made up of Nicole Clegg, Senior VP of Public Affairs; Yvonne Lockerby, VP of Centralized Operations; and Kai Williams, Senior VP of Health Care Delivery. Collectively, they have over three decades of experience at PPNNE. We are fully confident in their ability to lead our organization while we determine next steps in conducting a national search for our new CEO. PPNNE’s mission and values will guide us as we move forward.
Their slogan “Together We Fight For All,” doesn’t seem to be working out for them. Unborn babies and their mothers will be the biggest winners if what appears to be a disintegrating relationship between the PPNNE management and the workers gets worse.
