Masked-Up Michigan’s COVID Spike Needs A Lockdown But Not the One the CDC Suggests

Masks don’t slow the spread, and neither do vaccines. The Public Heath Oligarchy is only willing to admit (indirectly) to the latter to make sure you keep using the former. But that game is getting harder to play. Masked up Michigan has had a spike in COVID19 cases, which means nothing in the real world, but we haven’t lived there for a while.

We live in a Bizzarro realm, where public health bureaucrats have more power than Constitutions.

“So when you have an acute situation, extraordinary number of cases like we have in Michigan, the answer is not necessarily to give vaccine,” [Dr. Rochelle] Walensky [director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] said, explaining that it takes two to six weeks to see the effect of vaccinations. “The answer to that is to really close things down, to go back to our basics, to go back to where we were last spring, last summer and to shut things down, to flatten the curve, to decrease contact with one another, to test … to contact trace.”

Frau Whitmer, good at getting elected but not much else, is convinced they are in a good place because of their devotion to the masked gods of COVID, and hey, we’ve got vaccines.  It never occurred to her that the masks and vaccines were the sources of the spike.

We saw spikes irrespective of lockdowns, masking, or any other public health pantomime. Anyone with even a sliver of objectivity would be the first to ask why, if they don’t work, do we perpetuate the unnecessary harms they create?

Because they can.

Whitmer spokesman Bobby Leddy said Michigan has implemented CDC standards and still has some of the strongest restrictions in the Midwest, including a mask mandate and capacity limits on indoor dining, indoor gatherings, and entertainment venues.

As our nation’s top health experts have said, this is not a failure of policy, but rather a compliance, variant and mobility issue, which is why it’s important for us to ramp up vaccinations as quickly as possible,” he said.

They implemented mandates that failed to stop spikes. Places without them had the same or better results.

The addition of vaccines changed nothing politically. Experts said stay masked and distanced. The places that followed the CDC’s continued guidelines are the worst off.

But that can only mean that you are to blame, except that places where they have no mandates, are as good or better off with none of the economic or mental-health fallout caused by those guidelines.

But even if you were to blame, which you clearly are not, if that were true, how does that justify continued harms created solely by the political response?

If your response cannot succeed at anything but doing more harm for no gain, why keep doing it?

Politicians don’t like to admit they were wrong. It gets them booted from the office and ruins their chances for bigger chairs with better views: that and the rush of power which has corrupted their senses.

It is more important to them to be right than to be true, and that is where Whitmer’s aid is right.

Our fault lies in allowing the charade to continue, not just among the political and public-health class but through their water carriers in the complicit media.

We live in a constitutional republic, at least on paper but have allowed it to be reduced to a mask, little more than virtue signaling and equally useless.

Michigan does need lockdown – on the abuse of power by her government, politicians, and public health establishment.
