A Fudd: One of Life’s Ubiquities

Fudds, Fudds and More Fudds
Dan Gross, former President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent gun violence.

Here we go again. Another has fallen into Fudd Status. The battle against those who persistently seek to extinguish our rights occasionally claims one (or others) who came from that place, claiming to be, “one of us.” We call them, “FUDD’s.”  Some in the professional firearms cadre get lost in their fame. Their status swallows them up. They become vein, soon thinking they are smarter than their peers. This is a human failing, to be clear.  A “blind spot,” if you will.

Two Years ago, I wrote on Grok about FUDDs to introduce more people to the Fudd definition. In that entry, I defined the term, “FUDD,” as follows:

“A Fudd is a gun-owner who supports and sometimes advocates for traditional hunting guns. Also favors gun control and the banning of other guns such as handguns and tactical rifles. They call “Standard capacity magazines,” “high capacity” because they hold more than ten rounds.”

In August 2019, Kimberly Morin wrote about Beto O’Rourke attending gun shows and meeting Fudds. A day prior to that , I penned a piece about Fudds being an enemy to the second amendment.

Rob Pincus is the latest to fall onto Fudd-dom He teamed up with former Brady Campaign President Dan Gross to write their proposal to help stop, “Gun Violence.” The Open letter by Gross and Pincus is entitled, Guns in America: Ending the Culture War & Starting a Productive Conversation.  Below is a highlight from the piece.

“Fortunately, the policy area with the most synergistic message is also the one that represents what we believe is the greatest potential for impact: Expanded Background Checks.”

Don’t be a FUDD

In countless entries over the dozen or so years Grok has allowed me the privilege to write, I have detailed WHY expanded Background Checks are a bad idea.  Apart from being, tyrannical, They lead to Registries and confiscation. Others outside of Granite Grok have outlined, those point to complete ubiquity. The wherefores and whys that are  bad ideas. I’ll use this entry to hit the bullet points. Please do read the article.

The Bill of Rights is NOT a bill of needs. The Second Amendment has nothing to do with Deer Hunting and everything to do with tyranny.

  • The Gun Control Act of 1934, The Gun Control Act of 1968, The Brady Bill, The 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, and a host of other states going hog wild with draconian laws. Enough is enough. Time to draw the line.
  • The term, “Gun Violence,’ is a fiction. There is no such thing as “Gun violence.” Guns do three things: The function, they fail or they rust. Violence lives in the heart of humans and has been around since Humans began using tools.
  • More people die from violence as a result of clubs, hammers, knives or fists. More so than with guns.
  • It is long overdue to simply say no more gun laws.
