They Could Be Twins: Comparing the Current Rise of the American Left With the Rise of the Nazis in Germany

We’ve spent no small amount of time pointing out how the left is fascist and as required, they are projecting that on their political opponents (enemies). But Steve McCann at American Thinker went one better. He has a point-by-point comparison that should not surprise anyone but a Registered Democrat.

I’ll start with synopsized bullets of his comparisons then add my own thoughts after and please give Steve and American Thinker some love. The traffic sort. He has a lot more detail than I’ve shared and it is worth arming yourself with that information.

  • First, racial division was a central component of Nazi political strategy and philosophy. “…using the national media they controlled, sliced and diced the populace into specific identity groups and then promulgated grievance-riddled policies aimed at these manufactured factions in order to foment anger at a specific identity group…”
  • Second, the Nazi Party was fixated on censorship and eliminating any cultural institution, publication or speech that did not fully support them.  In other words, their version of today’s “cancel culture.”
  • Third, the Nazis perfected the art of indoctrinating the citizenry through propaganda and “fake news.”
  • Fourth, the Nazis, true to socialist ideology, preyed on class envy to stoke tensions and resentment [while] Hitler assured the German corporate titans that, despite their rhetoric, the Nazis would leave them alone and award them lucrative contracts if they supported the Party…”
  • Fifth, in the 1920s and early 30’s the Nazi Party routinely relied on street riots, property damage, and gratuitous violence utilizing their militant cadre, the Sturmabteilung (SA), to project power through intimidation while blaming the communists for the violence.
  • Sixth, in January 1933, Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany.  Within four weeks a mysterious fire broke out in the Reichstag (Congress) Building … Using this pretext, the Nazis were able to force through the Reichstag The Enabling Act of 1933 in March of the same year.   This law embedded the Nazis as the sole dominant political party and ensured that only the Nazis could win future elections [HR1, anyone?]

McCann does go on to say, probably out of editorial necessity, that “no one” thinks the American left has designs on world domination or perpetrating another Holocaust.

I’m going to disagree. They seem interested in undermining America. Weaken it. Make it open to attack or, more likely to embrace a more global form of top-down control; acquiescence out of a necessity, perhaps to debt forgiveness, with lots of concessions. That’s world domination of a sort.

Buh-Bye Constitution and Bill of Rights, hello UN Human rights, blah blah blah.

As for something like the Holocaust? If the world domination scenario goes sideways (or Americans say GFY to the elites), they are a political party whose ideological ancestors inspired Hitler and Mousillini.

And the Socialist-Democrat’s preferred form of government has no historical comparisons that did not confine, abuse, or kill “political prisoners.”

The police state has side-effects just look at history.

Hitler gets credited with murdering about 17 million, and that pales compared to Stalin and Mao, whom our Democrats are less squeamish about emulating rhetorically.

Stalin is responsible for at least 30 million dead (easily as many as 60). Mao might be at 80 million or more, and he is still honored and revered in China (or else, I suspect) and by many Americans on the Left.

If you need to quell only 10% of a population of 300 million, you’re past Hitler and maybe Stalin.

Close to 75 million people voted against the Democrat’s agenda in 2020, so if the American left is serious about their own great leap forward, their ‘Reset’ as they call it, there’s no getting past that.

No one on the right that I know wants a shooting war, but I suspect the Democrats will need a bigger fence if they start one.

A second civil war will look nothing like the first.

Let’s hope we can solve this another way. The soapbox, the ballot box… anything but the ammo box, though as I said, I think the Left is itching for that latter. I’ve long thought they needed a domestic shooting war to complete the blood bargain with their false totalitarian gods.

Update: Fixed a few minor typos.
