Just When You Thought Chris Sununu’s Gaslighting Couldn’t Get Any Worse … Along Comes His Litany of Lies For Vetoing HB 544 (Banning “Critical Race Theory”)

To start, if you have not read Skip’s recent excellent post on New Hampshire’s Sun-King, Chris Sununu and HB 544: So, Gov Chris Sununu Believes All Whites are RAAACISTS?you should.

This is such an important topic, that I want to “add my two cents.”

Let me start with what “critical race theory” is. From a prior post:

Essentially, “critical race theory” describes the pseudoscientific concept that all people with white skin are inherently racists and are not even aware of it because they have “internalized” their “racial superiority” and, consequently, think and act in a racist manner without even being aware of it (“unconscious bias”). It is a variation on “white privilege.”

Next let me block quote from an interview Sun-King Sununu did with New Hampshire Communist Radio (aka NHPR):

Question: Several listeners have asked about HB 544, which would prevent educators from teaching about systemic racism and sexism in public schools and state funded programs.  Molly in North Conway asks: Governor, if this bill passes the House and Senate, will you veto it?

Sununu: “Probably, yeah. I don’t support it. Look, that bill, as I’ve read it to date, it really limits free speech. We might not like, you know, agree with certain things that may be said in a public setting or school or whatever it is. But that’s the beauty of local control, that’s working with your teachers, your school administrators, as a parent, on what’s going on in the classroom, having that connectivity. But you don’t control that by having a big government law that says you can’t say certain things. I’m shocked.  I hate that concept. So, yeah, my guess is if it didn’t change, I’d probably very likely veto it.”

Before we turn to Sun-King Sununu’s response, please note that New Hampshire Communist Radio’s question is based on a LIE … that HB 544 “would prevent educators from teaching about systemic racism and sexism” … and that Sun-King Sununu adopts that LIE as his own.

To be clear, I cannot say for certain what the Communists or Sun-King Sununu mean by “systemic racism,” but “critical race theory” is a quantum leap beyond saying, for example, that police departments are racist. Critical race theory (CRT) says ALL INDIVIDUALS with white skin are racists simply because they have white skin. That is, CRT says whites are racist simply because they are white.

Now let’s turn to Sun-King Sununu’s answer. He begins by claiming that HB 544 “limits free speech” … which is an amazingly shallow response. The free speech rights of teachers does not mean they are free to say whatever they want while they are teaching class.

For example, math teachers are getting paid to teach math. It is nonsensical to claim that a math teacher’s free speech has been limited because he or she is required to spend his or her class-time teaching math from a supplied textbook, as opposed to lecturing about why the Rolling Stones and not the Beatles are the greatest rock-and-roll band of all time.

But the Sun-King is just getting warmed up. Next, he tells us that banning CRT is not necessary because we enjoy the “beauty of local control” and that HB 544 would sever “connectivity” between parents and teachers. How Sun-King Sununu loves to dissemble.

To begin with, “local control” of public education in New Hampshire is a myth. The State extensively regulates what is taught in public schools. More importantly, Sun-King Sununu is using local control as an excuse for exposing children to the idiotic and toxic (and very racist) notion that everyone with white skin is a racist simply because his or her skin is white.

Stated slightly differently, it is more important … far more important … to keep an idiotic and toxic and racist notion like CRT out of public schools than it is to uphold the principle of local control. Especially when a large number of parents do not have the practical option of taking their children out of public schools to rescue them from being indoctrinated with cultural-Marxism like CRT.

Sun-King Sununu, as gaslighting demagogues are wont to do, ends with a rhetorical flourish: telling us that he is “shocked” … SHOCKED … that anyone would even propose banning CRT. Indeed, he “hates” … HATES … that concept.

What the Sun-King really hates is real Republicans who are willing to fight back against the Left’s cultural-Marxism … as opposed to pretending as he does that the Left is not engaged in cultural-Marxism and focusing on … wait for it … wait for it … here it comes … more BUSINESS TAX CUTS.
