Notable Quote – No, Government was never supposed to be “entrepreneurial” by design

by Skip

Do you remember how bad the Obama Administration was at being a “green Venture Capitalist” (think: Solyndra)?

In planning the program of the economy – or the program of art or science or architecture or craft work or social customs – the one mind even of a genius does not usually do as good a job as does the artificial intelligence machine known as commercially tested betterment, millions of minds having a go in markets. Imagine a central planning of fine-art painting only as fresh attempts at Picasso’s program, or architecture only as fresh attempts at Mies van der Rohe’s program, forever, by State order, with if necessary a boot on the face.

-Deirdre McCloskey, Alberto Mingardi (The Myth of the Entrepreneurial State)

This is what happens when Government decides to go beyond its actual mission statement: protect our liberties. Unfortunately, not even Republicans hew to that idea anymore. It seems that Government is supposed to, in their eyes, be all things to all people. And is rapidly to the mode of supplying all things to all people – Socialism. EVERYBODY GETS A CHECK! YOU GET A CHECK AND YOU GET A CHECK AND YOU GET A CHECK…..

Until the country get a real hard financial CHECK-up and all those checks will be like Venezuela.

Sidenote: which, if you haven’t been paying attention, is (like all Socialist / Communist States that had a couple of brain cells to rub together) starting to bring back Privatization. Letting Individuals controlling the means of Production again. It’s what happens when a State thinks it can do what it cannot and gives up (either voluntarily after staring total economic disaster in the face or because there’s nothing it can do at all).

The US will have to learn this lesson the hard way. With the PRO Act, the Democrats are (and have been for a while) taking over the Economy. Tighten up your belts because we will be proving the Notable Quote to be true.
