WMUR’s Amy Coveno? Meet Irish Democracy.

WMUR’s WuFlu Panic-Porn is reaching a fevered pitch (heh! see what I did there?). Last Night, about a minute in, WMUR’s Amy Coveno and NH’s State Epidemiologist both lamented just how disappointed they are in all of us.

I’d share the video but:

  • Even as one of its lead stories, WMUR can’t be bothered to clip it out for their website.
  • They don’t even bother to put up their own news programs either. It’s almost like they don’t want to be quoted or sumptin.

And I haven’t spent the time to figure out how to plug into the Atlantic Broadband DVR in order to snatch the videos that are “of interest” (hint, hint, if anyone knows…”. But here’s the short transcription (emphasis mine):

Coveno: Covid-19 claimed the lives of 40 people in NH in just the last week.

Chan: It’s probably going to be another of weeks  before we see the full impact of the Thanksgiving holiday travel in our numbers.

Coveno: State health officials wonder if the guidance to wear masks and stay apart[dramatic short pause) is being heard at all.

Chan: I’m worried that people, um, when they hear public health say the same things over and over and over again and the same message is being put out there, that the people are, um, perhaps not listening.

And then Coveno rolls right into that same message – all to the effect of put yourselves under house arrest…WHY AREN’T YOU LISTENING TO US, YOU DOLTS!!!!  So, if you didn’t get the first definition, try this one:

Glenn Reynolds recently revived the strategy of “Irish Democracy” as a way of pushing back against unlimited Federal Expansion.  This policy was adopted by the Irish Republicans as an alternative to directly confronting the British Empire in the early 20th century.  For those unfamiliar with the idea, its clearest expression was given in the movie “Michael Collins”,  when the main character counseled the crowds against going head to head with London: “we have a weapon more powerful… than any in the whole arsenal of the British Empire! That weapon… is our refusal! … There is one weapon that the British cannot take away from us: we can ignore them.”

We are inundated with public health messaging. The papers all have it, NH.GOV has the stats, and WMUR makes sure to do their Panic-Porn schtick 5 shows a day (morning, noon, 5 pm, 6 pm, and 9 pm) and runs a steady chyron the entire time. But they miss one big thing:

We don’t live in China where they kept people in their homes by welding doors shut.

We gave them (Govt and MSM) the benefit of the doubt when this first broke out.

But after 10 months of listening to the same dang message, of course, we’ve heard it. A lot. And now, a lot of us just don’t care (at least you recognized the obvious and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it (Yikes, you got me riled up to use a bad word!!!). We can ignore them.

Yes, many of us just don’t care what you say anymore.

Don’t do this, do that, ixnay on these other things, Oopsies – we got something, someplace, some other problem wrong – now do these things instead.

Oopsies V 2.0 – hey, we were right before we were wrong (or was that wrong until we finally got it right?).

And, oh, by the way, the so-called “Leaders” like Pelosi, various Democrat governors and mayors and legislators and county executives – they’re doing EXACTLY that for which they’d fine us and throw us into jail.

Yet they expect us to be sheeple as they eat at the French Laundry? Or drive around the state to their vacation home to go boating? Or send their families to their other homes where the State restrictions THAT THEY JUST LAID DOWN were fewer? Or got caught enjoying family and other friends when they are sending law enforcement to bust into “little people’s” homes to arrest those that do the same?

Yet no word from Coveno and Chan about the “Do as I say not as I do” hoi-polloi. Wonder why…

I’ve heard very little from WMUR about those Democrats – why IS that, Coveno?

Why hasn’t your crackerjack Political Director, Adam Sexton, hammered that every time a camera is trained on him?

Why no reporting on that kind of hypocrisy that is ALSO having us turn up our White Noise machines? No clue as to that being part of your pontification failures?

Congrats, Amy and Ben, welcome to Irish Democracy (emphasis mine):

Now to “Irish Democracy,” an ironic term used by author and Yale professor James Scott in his new book, “Two Cheers for Anarchism“:

Quiet, anonymous, and often complicitous, lawbreaking and disobedience may well be the historically preferred mode of political action for peasant and subaltern classes, for whom open defiance is too dangerous….One need not have an actual conspiracy to achieve the practical effects of a conspiracy. More regimes have been brought, piecemeal, to their knees by what was once called “Irish Democracy”—the silent, dogged resistance, withdrawal, and truculence of millions of ordinary people—than by revolutionary vanguards or rioting mobs.

Where the rest of us are voting with our speech and with our actions (or in this case, lack thereof).

Remember that ad for an air freshener that had that wonderful phrase “nose blind”?

Yeah, tag because you’re that now. Celebrity blind. News Blind. LOCKDOWN BLIND. We’ve gone Message Blind. Like this one who tells us to mask up but then goes to the baseball game, sits in the stands with his friends – maskless:

Really? “Do as you’re told”? What kind of flaming butthole does he think he is? I’ll tell you – just a more direct version of Coveno or Chan but all three are saying the same thing.

Here’s a bit of news fer ya: We don’t live by the diktats of a stuck up newsreader nor an unelected “public health” saying the same thing for almost a year. We gave up our lives – we’re taking them back. We don’t care about the hectoring from WMUR or from bureaucrats. We are going to see our families, see our friends, find our own Happiness – because we refuse to be slaves to those that say we can’t. Been there, did that, not gonna anymore.

Americans are a stubborn people when our patience finally runs out and you make our ire rise – we are a people that don’t like being pushed around or condescended to (and you both are doing both). Our American progenitors left the Old World for Freedom – they endured much hardship, much heartache, and much death but they were willing to sacrifice ALL for that one quintessential American ideal – Freedom. For Liberty. To no longer be told what they can and can’t do. And here we find ourselves again.

Our State motto is “Live Free or Die” – and there are no small numbers of we Granite Staters who just don’t take that as a set of words strung together to sound nice (unless you’re Congresstwit Chris Pappas who thinks it’s too “harsh” and not suited for “today”. We actually believe it and try to live and get REAL upset at people screeching/preaching at us to be otherwise. It’s rather obvious that you both have forgotten the last part of the General’s quote: “Death is not the worst of all evils“. Sad to say you folks may remember the words but not the intent behind them.

We’ve been blessed in this country to have enjoyed the Liberty given to us in blood by our country’s stalwart defenders. Too bad it’s being subverted by Safetyism, Socialism, and Cancel Movement. And yes, the MainStream Media as well.

Yep, a lot of us are withdrawing our consent. That’s what happens when Government demands that which it should not do.

The rest of them? We’ll make sport of them.
