They wanted to control showerheads and now your wealth. Again (as if you needed reminding), the THers are, like any kind of Socialists, are Government-centric. ONLY Government can do “good” things and nothing should be outside the ken of said Government. And they show their disdain quite easily:

A couple years ago, it looked like bitcoin could become a major new global currency. But finance experts are now saying bitcoin’s end is right around the corner.
CHASER: 1 Bitcoin – $23,870
Death throes, not so much, so it seems. So much for their financial acumen. Which, I add, extends into all kinds of others in which they believe that “experts” know better than we do about our own lives.
Much of their hatred has nothing to do with it being outside the purview of Government to control it – it’s all about Free People deciding to use (and pay for) large amounts of energy needed to drive the algorithmic processes to do the calculations (e.g., mine) BitCoins:

Sure, it is volatile and speculative; so what? If people want to spend their wealth earning, buying, trading, or converting, whose business is it anyways? Certainly not the THers.
