Another evergreen advisory for folks who are escaping the hellhole States like NY, CA, IL, and the like. They can’t stand it there anymore but then come to states like New Hampshire and offer or support the candidates, legislation, and policies that made them leave to come here.

All those failing places where the out-migration is starting to affect their budgets.
And DON’T be like, Gracie Gato, Zandra Rice-Hawkins, Cynthia Chase, and many others that Just. Know. Better. Than. Us. Timmy Horrigan, Steve Shurtleff, Bruce Currie – the list also includes “natives” that hate this State as it is.
Many others that move here to the Live Free or Die State and then immediately “know” they have the “right” to start changing our lives. Just go back, if that’s what you want to do – and get off our lawns.
There is a reason why the phrase exists: “Welcome to NH – now go home.”
Like the transplants from away that are turning Peterborough into a Massachusetts outpost (Keene, Durham, Hanover…). Leave us and our culture alone – we don’t want to be like other States.

PLEASE, DON’T CALIFORNICATE THE REST OF AMERICA: One might think people fleeing a disaster would avoid at all costs doing things that could repeat the calamity in their new home.
Sadly, as Issues & Insights notes in today’s editorial, that’s not always the case: “Here’s the problem. It’s one thing to move from a state because it’s going in the wrong direction. It’s quite another to move and not understand that you had something to do with it.”
UPDATE (FROM GLENN): Time for my Welcome Wagon Project to educate voters who move on why they should’t replicate the environment they’re fleeing:
If I were one of those conservative billionaires (hello, Koch brothers! hi, Sheldon Adelson!) who are always donating tens of millions to support Republican candidates, I think I might try spending some of the money on something more useful: A sort of welcome wagon for blue state migrants to red states. Something that would explain to them why the place they’re moving to is doing better than the place they left, and suggesting that they might not want to vote for the same policies that are driving their old home states into bankruptcy.
Would it work? I don’t know. But it’s likely to be more useful than money thrown down the political-consultant rat hole. And if nothing else, it might spread a bit of economic literacy, which is always in short supply.
It’s time.
I dunno either – it seems to be that Moral / Culture Superiority failure that they keep bringing with them and expecting us to just go “yes Master, you know best.”.
Our question should be “So WHY did you move?”. Certainly Rice-Hawkins’ and Gato’s responses, thus far, has been “to change you, to EVOLVE you from your Individualistic, rural, traditional ways”. And never realize that adults don’t like getting poked by people who have NO idea what is “the NH way” in return.
So, who will be those that will start getting out of their comfort zones and start yelling at these busybodies that treat us like children and knuckdraggers, bitter clingers, and rednecks that are in severe need of “re-education”? Remember, this is how they really think about us:
Don’t waste your time reaching out to Trump voters like I did. Instead, invest your time organizing your community, registering new voters and supporting candidates who reflect progressive values that uplift everyone, not just those who wear MAGA hats, in local and state elections. Work also to protect Americans against lies and conspiracy theories churned out by the right wing media and political ecosystem. One step would be to continue pressuring social media giants like Twitter and Facebook to deplatform hatemongers, such as Steve Bannon, and censor disinformation. It’s not enough, but it’s a start.
Translation: Dissent is not allowed. Variance from the Progressive GroupThink is verboten. Trying to not be absorbed will not be tolerated. Unwilling to change? We will change your State (and language) right out from underneath you. We are taking away your Rights. That is the only Unity that is acceptable to us.
If we cannot persuade you, we will force you to change.
