DISQUS Doodlings – And With a Single Word (WuFlu) I’m a Racist

I got called a racist. Not that it’s much of a surprise. It’s a typical argument ender by the Left when they have nothing better to say. They just can’t help hurling epithets, thinking that everyone else would understand that Their Emotions Trump EVERYTHING (see what I did there?); end of discussion.

Related: DISQUS Doodlings – It’s the “How It Is Being Done” That Is Wrong. Right?

Well, for those that don’t live and breathe politics and generally try to be nice, they don’t want to be called those “names” the Left uses.

Me? Meh. I’ve grown used to it – it’s like putting on your seatbelt when you get into your vehicle; it’s just part of the background. It’s just a given, given that environment. So again, the issue was Newsom’s declaring that gas vehicles would be verboten, and only electrics would be allowed to be sold in California. Well, commenter Prius04 (hey, just like RAAACIST, you can tell the punchline already!) decided to hold forth on the virtues of his electric vehicle (can ya guess which one) in a pique of virtue-signaling:

prius04: I’ve timed how long it takes me to charge my car. 5 seconds to plug it in and the 5 seconds to unplug it and hang the charger. 10 seconds per day times 365 days comes to about 1 hour per year. ONE. I’ve needed to charge ONCE while out for my 18,000 miles. So for that year it was 2 hours.

Try to beat that gas cars.

So, I did:

GraniteGrok: Don’t drive that far from home, eh? I noticed that you didn’t include the actual charging time. Why is that? Even if you are doing other things, that needs to be in the “time equation” in order for a complete picture of the tradeoffs, eh?

And just like most eco-Socialists (and Socialists in general), no answer to a simple and direct question:

prius04: About 19000 miles a year More than most.

But nice try.

Which could only mean one thing for this proud owner that can carry two people and two bags of groceries:

GraniteGrok: Which means you are, pretty much, only driving local. Driving for distance would mean more than just one charge / year outside of your home.

I don’t do the amount of driving I used to mostly because I don’t do a lot of customer visits (er, none). But even here in small NH, I’m almost always driving an hour plus to get too political events and sometimes more than that. And yes, stopping to get gas. And other than waiting in line to get to the pump, it’s generally a 5-minute deal. But I tried to be nice and acknowledged he drove a lot in his 4-wheeled battery:

And yes, 19K is more than most average. This year, I’ll be down to about 9K as most of the events I used to cover were canceled because of…

And a single word usage threw me into Progressive Language Hell and Damnation:

…WuFlu.

WuFlu. Coronavirus. China Flu. Covid-19. ChiComm Plague. Well, HE showed ME!

prius04: WuFlu? If I’d known I was engaging with an uninformed racist I would not have bothered.

Who knew? So much for Lyme disease, and these as well (for starters) are named for places or people, eh?

  • West Nile Virus
  • Guinea Worm
  • Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
  • Lyme Disease
  • Ross River Fever
  • Omsk Hemorrhagic Fever
  • Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever
  • Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS)
  • Valley Fever
  • Marburg Virus Disease
  • Norovirus
  • Zika Fever
  • Japanese Encephalitis
  • German Measles
  • Spanish Flu
  • Lassa Fever
  • Legionnaire’s Disease

So, I just left it at this:

GraniteGrok: When everyone but you is racist, no one is racist (“borrowed” from the Incredibles). Here’s yer sign!

Funny, nothing in return from battery-car-Guy…
