We Passed the Union Leader in Online Traffic Rank In a Run-Up to a Statewide Primary

Just a quick pat on the back to our readers who have knocked it out of the park so far this month. From the beginning of the month through yesterday’s primary our traffic pushed us back to number one for online print-media traffic in New Hampshire.

We don’t do sports, weather, or public interest stories, so I don’t expect that distinction to hold up for too long. We’ll probably stroll back to number two next week (unless you refuse to let that happen).

But we’re just a political site. Our tag line is “Dominating the Political Bandwidth in New Hampshire” with the obvious caveat that we are not competing in terrestrial radio or TV.

We are who we are in our medium, and when there’s an election, we kick some domestic traffic a**.

All, as a reminder, despite the compression algorithms applied by Facebook and Twitter and Google to suppress our reach, which the Union Leader does not have to overcome.

Absent those influences, we might be number one (online) from here on and forever, at least in the digital print space. We’d certainly be better positioned to take on larger regional print media online, but we have yet to overcome these partisan barriers in our way.

We’re working on it but we can’t do it without you.
