Biden knows the polls are telling him that he must come out of the basement. He has to cease being a virtual candidate. He must reengage and demonstrate a grasp of both issues and alternatives. Yet he knows that if he does, he risks losing the race.

The immediate option is having surrogates talk of mandatory fact-checking of the debates. The Democrats will cancel the debates entirely. This is true in all cases except for the polls indicating things are getting desperate.
Hillary says Biden “should not concede under any circumstances.” Apparently even if he loses the November election he should not acknowledge the fact. If the rules no longer favor Biden, then it seems time to change the rules. So Biden has become a tragic prisoner of his own mind.
Joe is an old centrist. In order to win Joe made a Faustian bargain with the Leftists. He has embraced socialist Bernie Sanders and his hard core leftist supporters. The alliance was what he felt was necessary to win the Democratic nomination. Now he must fashion a way to sell Leftist Joe in the general election.

The hard left is providing the urban fireworks this summer. They seem to drive down Trump’s poll numbers. Blue-state governors and mayors contextualized the violence. They cackled about a “summer of love” or “largely peaceful.” All the while their cities and business communities burned. Now they are facing the reality of a fall of voter discontent. The Party has cast its lot.
Biden stayed mum. The polls suggest he should remain silent. He could hardly criticize the rioters whose mostly violent acts were creating a sense of national anarchy. They were creatures of the Democrat Party. The riots are on Trump’s watch. They were undeniably aiding the Biden candidacy.
Don Lemon the CNN news anchor warns his fellow leftists. The polls are changing. Lemon is coming awake to the fact the public is sick of seeing the urban unrest. The people affected blame the local politicians who have stood idly by. Suddenly, members of the media want Biden to condemn the rioting and violence…. Done with the blessing of his Party… Done with the intent of electing him. This is an issue.
If Biden does condemn the rioting and violence he will alienate his now critical hard Left Bernie base. Biden’s reluctance to fault the rioters and arsonists has been alienating moderate suburban swing voters. If he stays in his basement who knows what he thinks? Does going from the basement to the White House make sense?
