The Seattle City Council has the resolution to abolish the police. The “replacement” is a “community-led” safety prevention program. What is that? Well, if you can afford it, private security. Everyone else is on their own.
But then, that’s the hallmark of leftwing innovation. Progressivism always rolls over the people it claims to champion in favor of people with money and power, and their money is colorblind. White donors, black donors, whoever has it will give some of it to whoever is making the rules. The very problem the same people sold you when they said they needed to get rid of the police—abuse of power.
Under the bill, cops would be replaced by “community-led activities” and organizations focused on “housing, food security, and other basic needs” along with “culturally-relevant expertise rooted in community connections,” according to documents posted by Christopher Rufo, Director of Discovery Institute’s Center on Wealth & Poverty.
To gain police department funding, groups must show they are “well-versed in de-escalation skills” along with “trauma-informed, gender-affirming, anti-racist praxis” and are “committed to hiring staff from the communities they serve,” according to the proposal.
I’m sorry. Seattle is screwed if this passes. Totally, unequivocally screwed.
But it might not be all bad. The rest of the nation will get a taste of what the future under Democrat rule looks like before they drop the police state hammer to save us from their “community-led” safety initiatives with the “trauma-informed, gender-affirming, anti-racist praxis.”
Seriously. Get out of Seattle. Get out now.
