Nationwide Police Organization That Supported Obama (Twice) Endorses President Trump in 2020

The National Association of Police Organizations has a good idea who has their back, and it is not Joe Biden. That should have been apparent years ago, but we’re talking about unions and other bragging groups that typically lean toward Democrats. Not this time around.

The National Association of Police Organizations, which represents more than 1,000 police units and associations nationwide, threw its support behind Trump in a letter released Wednesday acknowledging his “continued strong support” of cops tasked to protect Americans.

“Our endorsement recognizes your steadfast and very public support for our men and women on the front lines, especially during this time of unfair and inaccurate opprobrium being directed at our members by so many,” wrote the group’s president, Michael McHale.

This is such a no-brainer that any other outcome would have been a major facepalm. But don’t be surprised if local unions individually back local Democrats even though they are admitting publicly as a party, almost to the man (woman, or whatever) that they’d rather along with violent Marxists.

It’s all the rage, emphasis on the rage. Not even a leap for the Left – they are already there. But the Republicans who have encouraged or “stood” with groups like Black Lives Matter are invertebrates afraid to stand on principles.

You know who you are, and so do most of our readers. And it’s not just cops.

The police join Firefighters and other first responders who increasingly find themselves at odds with Democrat policy and priorities. I can’t tell you how many of these folks are quietly Republican because of union pressure to lean Left.

Working-class Democrats are also on our side of that fence, and I can’t imagine the recent riots and the two-faced business over gatherings will win Democrats much affection form these folks. You scared them, quarantined the healthy, unemployed them, closed many of their businesses, refused to let them attend church or gather in groups of any meaningful size, and then dismissed any concern when your people formed en masse to advance your political priorities and then pillage the landscape.

Just because they don’t speak up or speak out does not mean they have had it with your crap.

It’s hard to say if the Left will get it. They are so much smarter than the rest of us that they can’t even conceive of the place these positions have put them at odds with the majority of America. And, in the case of urban areas that are traditionally a lock for the left, some significant number of city-dwellers will vote for peace and quiet just to for a chance at peace and quiet.

The Democrats, claiming to be their champions for decades, are the reason things keep going sideways. If these folks internalize the images of violence, the mob mentality, those that can’t vote with their feet will still vote at the ballot box.

It’s an optimistic appraisal, but the Left loaded this rhetorical gun and pointed it at themselves. If the people decide they’ve had enough these weeks months of riots and protests to advance petty partisan interests could amount to political suicide.

We could only be so lucky.
