Black Lives Matter Nashua is an Unserious Organization

In early June, Black Lives Matter Nashua posted a petition on their Facebook page in support of defunding the police. I am a Nashua resident and I wanted to learn more, so I registered to participate in their June 17 organizing call, which was advertised as being open to the public.

I received an email confirmation and connected to the call. Jordan Thompson, leader of BLM Nashua, let me in. I said “Hi”, muted myself, and waited. Within a few minutes, without notice or explanation, I was thrown out of the call. I emailed Jordan and asking why I was thrown out and this was his response.

Hi Beth,
If you are interested in learning more about the plans and efforts of Black Lives Matter Nashua, you can refer to our Facebook, Instagram or Twitter accounts.
I personally removed you from our meeting because I have no intention of assisting your efforts to discredit and slander our work. As an organization, we will not be taking inquiries from any site or individual member of the press that routinely publishes racist, transphobic, hateful content. It would be greatly appreciated if you did not contact me or my chapter staff again.
Best,
Jordan Thompson

A couple of weeks later, BLM Nashua advertised another organizing call and I asked who was allowed to attend and this was the response.

BLM

If you scroll through their Facebook page you will see a lot about their “racial justice demands“, including legalizing recreational cannabis. There are many large Marxist black fists, the BLM symbol. They call President Trump a “white supremacist.”

Their page has tributes to the recently deceased civil rights hero Congressman John Lewis, who was badly beaten while participating in Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Selma March but they seem unaware that MLK advocated for peace and led non-violent demonstrations. The peacefulness of the civil rights protesters contrasted with the savagery of the police made a deep impression on the country and led to lasting change.

Instead, BLM Nashua is lashing out with angry, confrontational, petty name-calling and pushing bizarre efforts such as defunding the police and legalizing marijuana. They may grab some power in the short term, but long term nothing of value will be gained and MLK’s civil rights movement is being tarnished.
