Richard Grenell came bearing gifts. He’s the new acting Director of National Intelligence. The Gift? He “has declassified the names of Obama administration officials responsible for the “unmasking” of incoming Trump national security advisor Michael Flynn.”
If you’ve been following along, Barack Obama has come out of isolation to yap his gums in a private (see deliberately leaked) conference call. He’s letting his acolytes and media allies know what he thinks so they can try to use that to distract from that uneasy feeling.
None of the take-down strategies worked. Trump is still in office, and he’s waded through enough swamp to get to people who will share things that were meant to remain hidden. The media is working overtime, but Donald Trump has managed to help them show themselves off as dishonest partisan hacks for three years. A problem that gets worse as their breathless reporting on Trump scandals turn out to be Obama Scandals.
To do all the things that were done to Flynn, Page, Papadopoulos, and the Trump team, they’d been doing it for a while. Well, we know they were. The Obama administration spied on the press, congress, everyone. The Flynn case, in particular, has exposed a deliberate attack Obama knew about, to take out someone who had disagreed with him on key policies. And the charges against Flynn were all fabricated.
Flynn was not the only one.
That has several meanings, but for our purposes, he was not the only one illegally unmasked by someone in or working for the Obama Administration. Unmasking an American is a felony. The Obama team probably unmasked hundred of Americans if not thousands through the dubious or even criminal use of surveillance technology.
What is unmasking, again?
“Unmasking occurs after U.S. citizens’ conversations are incidentally picked up in conversations with foreign officials who are being monitored by the intelligence community,” explained Fox News. “The U.S. citizens’ identities are supposed to be protected if their participation is incidental and no wrongdoing is suspected. However, officials can determine the U.S. citizens’ names through a process that is supposed to safeguard their rights.”
You may not recall, but then NSA director Mike Rogers (not ours) uncovered some unusual access by third parties of the NSA database. Rogers discovered Obama’s illegal spying on Americans and the use of private contractors to extract sensitive data on political opponents of the Obama administration. Rogers told Trump he was being surveilled in Trump tower.
It was after this (with the help of John McCain) that we learned about the existence of the Steele dossier, which is (in some circles) believed to have been thrown together to help hide the illegal surveillance that had already been conducted.[
A few years ago, I suggested that team Obama had been spying on all the Republican candidates for President. That’s probably correct; we just don’t have the details yet. Which brings s back to Grenell.]
Richard Grenell has declassified a list of members of the Obama White House who unmasked Flynn. He could do the same with others. And in the context of the Durham probe, may be asked to do just that.
The other wild card? Who has already flipped, or who will flip? We’re talking about hundreds, perhaps thousands of criminal acts, ending with the surveillance of an elected president and the campaign to remove him from office so he could never expose what they did. And it wasn’t just Democrats trying to hide it.
Keep the popcorn coming. Summer may prove to be very difficult for the media and their Democrat enablers. The media sold all those lies to help hide the same illegal behavior of which the Obama Administration appears to be guilty. An investigation, I’m guessing, will have a lot of actual evidence, as opposed to the sort they’ve been peddling about Mr. Trump.
