The incentive to chase wealth on a massive scale (via patents), primarily through but not limited to publicly-funded research at US Colleges and Universities, has warped the incentives.
Instead of looking for the best cure or treatment or science because it is your job or your passion, researchers are motivated to capture and monopolize funding and then market share. Everything is driven by grant hunting, impressing peers, securing more federal money for an institution, and potentially life-changing wealth for themselves (all paid for with taxpayer money).
It is a power that has infected every science. We see it in climate science, certainly, and, thanks to the Plandemic Movie, it is being exposed in the medical community, from journals to Big Pharma to Dr. Fauci himself.
