A little over a year ago, a pro-China eco-fascist went on a killing spree in New Zealand. His manifesto states clearly that one of his goals is to advance anti-gun laws. It worked. The other lunatics, the ones in government, immediately began banning guns, and what did we say back then?

New Zealand is setting itself up for a parade of “weapons” bans that will include all firearms (inevitably) then knives, pointy sticks, and don’t forget rocks.
New Zealand went from banning some firearms to asking people to turn them in and buy-backs, followed by calls for more restrictive licensing and a registry. A disturbing but predictable trend.
What they leave out is this. The goal is not to pass laws that keep guns out of the hands of criminals. That never works. It is to turn the hands of law-abiding gun owners into criminals as a pretext to disarm them.
It must be everything the New Zealand mass murderer hoped for, and more. And here’s the “more.”
Creeping tyranny comes so much easier now, it seems. New Zealand’s “COVID-19 Public Health Response Bill” includes this gem.
An enforcement officer may enter, without a warrant, any land, building, craft, vehicle, place, or thing if they have reasonable grounds to believe that a person is failing to comply with any aspect of a section 11 order.
And what is the context for a section 11 order? I had to look that up. Here it is.
Specifically, a section 11 order under the Act can require:
Persons to take any actions or comply with any measures that contribute or are likely to contribute to preventing the risk of the outbreak or spread of COVID-19 (or to refrain from taking any actions that contribute (or are likely to contribute) to that risk)
Actions to be taken, or measures to be complied with, or prohibitions imposed, in relation to any places, premises, crafts, vehicles, animals or other things to prevent the risk of the outbreak or spread of COVID-19.
Under the guise of protecting public health (and safety) – which trumps all, lest we forget – any enforcement officer may enter any property without a warrant. Boom!
You have to wonder what’s next, but I think you can guess. When the emergency or crisis or whatever this is becomes less the threat, how easy will they make it to extend or simply mainstream these sorts of intrusions?
After all, New Zealand took scary rifles away in a sweeping 119-1 vote. For the good of public health and safety, don’t you know. They gave themselves the authority to enter or interact with any property at any time without a warrant – in the name of public safety.
You’d have to be crazy to think they’ll (1) give that back and (2) not use it to launch the next infringement—a cure for the problem of too much liberty.
