Chris Pappas voted against giving cash to illegal aliens. That was just before he voted in favor of giving taxpayer money to illegal aliens.
Pappas was one of 13 Democrats to take advantage of the political cover afforded by a parliamentary maneuver. It was a cynical political move to obfuscate Pappas’ actual position.
The measure first failed, and then HR 6800, known as the HEROES Act, passed. It passed with the illegal-immigrant funding included. Contrary to what Speaker Pelosi says the HEROES bill is a Christmas tree bill. It is full of her party’s pork. Pork is political payola for the faithful. It is also laden with progressive policy changes. It has little to nothing to do with the pandemic.
Here are some the bailouts within:
- A multi-billion-dollar bailout. Democrat states like Illinois and California have massive debt from unfunded pension spending. They want to transfer that to you. Do we understand this correctly Chris?
- $160 billion tax cut for top earners in high-tax Democrat states like Massachusetts and New Jersey. In those states hi earners will get to deduct more than $10,000 a year in state and local taxes. This transfers the local obligations to you and me by nationalizing. Chris tell us why you support transferring Massachusetts and New Jersey tax obligation to New Hampshire?
- Aid to the legalized pot industry. This is a must-have pandemic move. Wait, don’t you smoke pot? And the virus attacks the lungs… This makes sense because… why again Chris?
- $10,000 student-loan bailouts at a cost of $45 billion. Why are we bailing out individuals who made a bad purchase? Nobody paid for your college… and some of us did not go to college at all. Why does it make sense to bailout people for education that is of so little value it won’t pay for itself? Why does that make sense? It is backdoor payola to higher education institutions. Chris, what part of this is not how you see it? How is this pandemic related?
Here is some pork and policy
- $20 million in arts funding… Hey Chris what does this have to do with the pandemic again?
- $250 million to encourage increased early releases for felons. Okay, why is it a good idea to have laws if we are not going to enforce them? Were all those felonies actually not crimes? How did we retroactively change that… Why is that a great idea Chris?
- The bill also overrides the election laws of states like New Hampshire. Hey Chris why are you in favor of nationalizing New Hampshire’s election law? Are you ashamed of New Hampshire Chris? Or are you just afraid of fair elections?
- HR 6800 requires mail-in balloting, no-ID-required voter registration, not just for November 2020, but for every future federal election. So why does it make sense to make a permanent policy change because of a temporary one time situation? The appearance from this vantage point is you intend to try to steal this election through ballot harvesting, and trucking in illegal voters.
Pandemic Swedish style
Looking at Sweden there does not seem to be much downside to having done nothing in response to the coronavirus. On Twitter Chris said: “… If we fail to redouble and refine our efforts, the public health risks will grow, more jobs will be lost, more small businesses will throw in the towel, and cities and towns will go bust…” Okay Chris here’s your chance justify how your vote does what you claim it does.
Even the Leftist Associated Press calls the HEROES Act “a starkly partisan offering with no real input from Republicans.” https://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2020/05/13/business/ap-us-virus-outbreak-congress.html
Chris Pappas is Nancy Pelosi’s most reliable proxy vote. He supports this bill giving billions in the form of checks to illegal aliens, plain and simple. Pappas votes with Nancy Pelosi 100% of the time. He supports her hyper-partisan bills. He supports even when some Democrats had the courage to oppose. This is the kind of spineless, go along and get along performance, that is a disservice to New Hampshire. Chris Pappas supports the highly partisan Pelosi $3 Trillion Porkulus Bill.
