Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D – TDS), is threatening doctors and pharmacists in her state. Anyone who writes or fills prescriptions for hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19 could find themselves on the wrong side of Michigan’s licensing board.

The agency’s March 24 letter warns physicians and pharmacists of professional consequences for the prescribing of hydroxychloroquine (and chloroquine). Beyond the rational recommendation against hoarding as production of this medication needs to be ramped up, the letter deviates into open threats of “administrative action” against the licenses of doctors that prescribe hydroxychloroquine.
The letter also instructs pharmacists to ignore physician orders for this medication. Due to the debate over a pharmacist’s right to refuse to fill medications that go against their religious beliefs, this could place pharmacists in the unprecedented position of being told that they must fill prescriptions that violate their “conscience (religious belief)” but must not fill prescriptions to treat COVID-19.
Chloroquine has become a political football for the left. Despite success treating flu patients in Asia and Europe, and several international studies demonstrating its effectiveness as both a prophylactic and post-infection treatment (for Chinese flu), Democrats have declared it witchcraft. All because the President, obviously in reference to these studies, suggested the FDA and CDC officially approve this alternate use.
The media has jumped all over the opportunity to smear President Trump even though US doctors have been prescribing the remedy at their discretion and having success. The Media does not dare focus on that. Instead, we get the idiot in Arizona who died from drinking aquarium cleaner.
Democrat Gov. Whitmer appears to be in league with the politics instead of the science. She is invoking political will in the shadow of an anti-Trump narrative to prevent doctors and pharmacists – arguably the actual experts in this circumstance – from knowing and applying their knowledge to treat their patients. Using the government to tell health care professionals what they can and cannot do. Or Else!
And people give us crap for opposing grotesque abuses of political force like ObamaCare and Medicaid for All. They are government interventions into health care that, by design, put bureaucrats between patients and doctors.

Really? Did you see Pelosi and Democrat’s effort to hijack the Covid-19 recovery bill? It was loaded with acts of force placed on a wide range of resources. If you took loans or grants of money because acts of government force made it difficult for you to even stay in business, you would be forced to change your behavior to comply with the Fed’s new demands.
Whitmer is using force to define the health care environment. A decision that will result in people getting sick and dying. A tragedy which she will then lay at the feet of her political opponents and President Trump.
Michigan will not only punish doctors who prescribe a drug for any but its FDA approved uses, even though emergency protocols allow for alternative use based on a physician’s opinion, they will punish pharmacists who fill the prescriptions or fail to rat out the doctors prescribing them.
No, you’re right. Government-run Democrat socialist health care won’t be tyrannical at all. Except that it will. And people will die because of it.
