If you didn’t read past the beginning of this amazing piece of speculation, “Climate change is a disability rights issue,” you’d think they meant people in wheelchairs. Not exactly. But they are serious about their work and also entirely immune to the irony.

Without getting into the weeds, the word ‘disabled’ like “climate” means different things to them. People you’d consider disabled are included, but the term is not limited to them. You have to add the young, the old, and the disadvantaged – where they decide what that means.
The next hurdle is the things to which these persons are presumably entitled. The rights, side of their equation. Say hello to the term ‘ecosystem services.’ It includes knowledge, resources, indigenous knowledge (tradition), “aesthetic and spiritual values, inspiration, recreation and personal or community identity,” food, timber, water, nutrient cycles, soil formation, “In a manner of speaking, cultural ecosystem services are everywhere and nowhere.”
Again, sans weeds, you have a right to everything that climate change (whose existence and impending doom you are prohibited from questioning) could take away (which is everything). A problem whose cure is what?
It is some form of totalitarian political ideology. And for that form of rule to operate, what typically happens? The state controls everything from knowledge, traditions, and resources, to food, timber, “aesthetic and spiritual values, inspiration, recreation, and personal or community identity.”
In controls, in a word, everything.
So, without a single note of irony, the experts who penned this piece proceed to make a case for global socialist multi-national interventions in the name of protecting the rights of “disabled persons and populations” and their cultural ecosystems with solutions that cannot truly abide them; especially if they retain any sense of tradition that includes autonomy, individual rights, free speech, or associations that dare to challenge their authority to control the very production of their lives (also, ironically, an enumerated right at risk from climate change).
Well, they got the last bit correct. The solutions to these imagined problems will have serious detrimental impacts on the right to the product of your own labors.
Which, from 30,000 feet translates too, if you can’t question the “science” established to give them that kind of power, what makes you think you could ever challenge anything else that ever popped into their pointy little totalitarian heads? Like erasing gender, or Thanksgiving, for example.
