NH Senate Quickly Kills the Democrat Income Tax – So, Was this Just Political Theater?

Jeanne Dietsch proposed an amendment to an unrelated bill that would create an income tax in New Hampshire. It was big news. People reacted. We reported it here. But before the digital ink was even dry, the Democrat majority, NH Senate killed it.

Dirty Dan Feltes, the guy who loves the idea of more and higher taxes, especially on income, is expected to challenge Chris Sununu for the opportunity to be governor. And guess who is out front talking to the media about how they just killed an income tax?

“While I am committed to ensuring New Hampshire has the resources necessary to provide meaningful property tax relief and increase state education funding, I believe there are much better avenues to get there,” said Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes, D-Concord. “This is an income tax, which I oppose.”

I don’t think he does oppose it. I believe this is political theater, and not just over the income tax.

Democrats arrived at the medias door and pitched their 2019 narrative bouquet. Inadequate education funding. Funding Crisis. Crushing property Taxes. Property-poor towns.

The real crisis is irresponsible spending. Lack of value. No return on investment. Poor educational outcomes. The left’s monopoly on public education and their war on school choice. A war that doubles down on the distrust. Not only are you not smart enough to make the right spending choices under no circumstance should you permitted to choose to spend your money on an education they do not control.

There is no funding crisis. Towns are spending more to send one kid to grade school than the cost to send one kid to a college. And if you have been listening to the left, College is expensive – also because of Democrat policies.

So, in the matter a few hours Democrats put on a show. They got earned media for their signature “property tax relief” scam while advancing the notion that Democrats (like Dan Feltes) oppose an income tax.

It’s all smoke and mirrors.
