How Ocasio-Cortez Would ‘Spend’ Amazon’s Tax Cut Now That They Aren’t Getting It

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the new “leader” of the Democrat party, has a plan. It involves that 3 billion in Tax cuts New York City promised Amazon. The problem with this plan is exposed succinctly by Don Trump Jr. “Will someone please explain to me how it is possible for NYC to SPEND a $3 Billion tax break on anything?”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the de facto fresh face of the Democrat party has it figured out.

What’s great is that our economy, our local economy, is already growing. So I firmly believe that if we want to take that three billion dollars that we were willing to give to Amazon and invest it in our local community, we can do that. We can make those jobs.

She suggests investing that three-billion in the subway, teachers, firefighters. You know, New Yorkers.

When Less Isn’t More

Taxation, as you know, is theft. Promising to steal less requires that you first have something to steal. In this scenario that sum is zero dollars. Actually, it’s zero dollars minus what they would pay in taxes and any revenue generated from employee salaries (in taxes) and every taxed transaction resulting from those salaries.

Salaries paid for by the free market, not New York City. Money from some excellent jobs, seeing as this was a headquarters and not just some warehouse or distribution center.

In her defense, I wholly support local activists deciding what local character they wish to preserve. And I’m no fan of political cronyism in the form of tax favors. But these remarks suggest to us that she used her energy, personality, and ignorance to play on peoples emotions.

That is what Democrats always do.

And now New York City will reap the reward. And it’s a lot less than three-billion dollars.
