The NH House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee doesn’t like members recording its sessions

So says the Chair, Robert Renny Cushing (D) as a whole slate of anti-Article 2-A (Second Amendment, for those that don’t read the NH Constitution) diminishing Rights bills are going to be coming through that committee. John Burt has long recorded his committee’s actions – just like I record my Budget Committee hearings.  After all, I’m an elected public official on a public town committee, under the authority of RSA 91-A (the Right to Know statute that protects citizens from the attempts by politicians and bureaucrats that like dark corners and low life lights) so I can do so.

In watching this video, he made the ruling because, IMHO, it sets the wrong “tone” and upsets “decorum”:

Yeah, been there, and SHUT UP! was the actual translation years ago when a similar thing was tried against me. My reaction was along the lines of “pound sand”.

Here’s where this came from:

Now, I listened to the vote and there were a lot of names I couldn’t here but here’s who I did hear in voting TO squash John Burt’s right to record:

  • Y-John Bordenet (D)
  • N-John Burt (R)
  • Y-Dennis Fields (R)
  • N-Dennis Green (R)
  • N-Jody McNally (R)
  • Y-Nancy Murphy (D)
  • Y-Andrew O’Hearne (D)
  • Y-Linn Opderbecke (D)
  • Y-Sandy Suinburne (D)
  • N-Scott Wallace (R)
  • Y-David Welch (R)

To the last person – listen to him at around 4:40 choosing “process” and (my words) “going along to get along” over the right thing to do.

To be continued…
