I’m standing on the shoulders of the Conservative Treehouse (CTH) guys on this. Sharing their work with our readers. Details revisited because the ruling class establishment is bent sideways and backward over Trump’s withdrawal of US troops from Syria. They object and not always respectfully.
I have visited the topic a time or two. President sets objective. Objective met. Time to come home. Mission accomplished isn’t the beginning of the next phase of the operation that never ends. It’s an approach of which an entire generation has never heard. Coming home is what happens between tours unless it’s in a box. The forever war.
Trump’s doing something new.
Good Wars and Bad Wars
No worries. We’re still at war. But there is a good deal of debate about the one involving ISIS. That the Obama administration armed them. Because its goal was regime change in Syria. That thing the left pasted all over Bush in Iraq. Remember Iraq? The bad war. It wasn’t like Afghanistan, the good war.
The left loved Afghanistan so much they praised Obama for copying Bushitler. A surge. Thousands of troops sent with daisies in their rifles. Target practice for jihadis. That worked out just swell. Some came home in boxes. The un-surge. We’re still there but not so much for live target practice. The Donald fixed the rules of engagement. Took the daisies out of the rifles. And now he has announced a drawdown there with the Syria departure. The Establishment lost their sh*t over that one as well. But I digress.
The Kerry “Tapes”
Syria. Treehouse. Forty-minutes of John Kerry audio leaked quietly by the New York Times just before the 2016 election. Evidence the Obama administration, with both Clinton and Kerry, were working with rebels (ISIS) to remove Basir Assad from power. Arming them. Aiding them.
Obama armed rebels in Libya (known terrorists) and in Syria (ISIS). And by “terrorist,” we mean known jihadi groups willing to die to kill Americans. Which may be enough of a takeaway but I’ll leave you with a summation from CTH about the leaked Kerry Audio.
What the recording reveals is substantive:
♦ First, only regime change, the removal of Bashir Assad, in Syria was the 2013, 2014, and 2015 goal for President Obama. This is admitted and outlined by Secretary John Kerry.
♦ Secondly, in order to accomplish this primary goal, the White House was willing to watch the rise of ISIS (’13, ’14, ’15) by placing their bet that ISIS’s success would force Syrian President Bashir Assad to acquiesce toward Obama’s terms and step down.
♦ Thirdly, in order to facilitate the objective, Obama and Kerry intentionally gave arms to ISIS and even, arguably, attacked a Syrian government military convoy to stop a strategic attack upon the Islamic extremists killing 80 Syrian soldiers.
Enough of this Crap
Mr. Trump ran for office on eliminating ISIS footprint and them with it. They were evil. Had to go. He did that. Did he do it for Assad? I don’t think so. Did he do it for Russia, Assad’s ally? I have not heard the collusion-monkeys working that narrative.
I think he did it because he ran on it and to make a statement. Well, a few of them. We can project power and meet military objectives. We will when we must. Then we’re leaving to let you figure out a way to keep us from having to come back.
I don’t think we can expect this policy to survive Mr. Trump whether he is president for four or eight years.
The people aligned with the idea of regime change will still be milling around the government. Swimming in the swamp. Marching up to microphones ranting about power vacuums and how irresponsible it is to leave [name of middle eastern country]. Power vacuums are a problem. Not always or problem.
What I find most amusing, at least today is that if you listen to the voices objecting to withdrawl, more than a few of them sound like the folks who said our “being there” was the cause of the terrorism against us.
