Blog Thought of the Day: Which one should Government be able to do FIRST?

by Skip

I point out here Reynolds’ Second Law (yes, it is my Shiny Object of the day):

“The more a government wants to run its citizens’ lives, the worse job it will do at the most basic tasks of government.”

From the lens of the above, which of these is the “basic” one:

Our government says it absolutely cannot keep track of its own borders or the 12 million people who live here illegally, but, it absolutely can keep track of the purchases, transfers, and components of hundreds of millions of guns and gun owners. It’s hell bound determined to try.

Theorem #1 of Progressivism is that Government is an Expert Government – it is fully qualified to do anything needed doing.  Thus, we are to turn over more and more of our responsibilities to Government – and that will truly give us Freedom.  That is what Progressives say – just let us run it all and we will take care of your needs.

Strange, last time I knew, if one was dependent on someone or something else for the necessities of life, one lived at the behest and under the rule of the other?  Neither is it, as they claim, safe or secure.  By definition, living under the rubric of “He who has the Gold makes the Rules”, this is Tyranny.

Co-founder of GraniteGrok, my concern is around Individual Liberty and Freedom and how the Government is taking that away. As an evangelical Christian and Conservative with small "L" libertarian leanings, my fight is with Progressives forcing a collectivized, secular humanistic future upon us. As a TEA Party activist, citizen journalist, and pundit!, my goal is to use the New Media to advance the radical notions of America's Founders back into our culture.
