“There is one other business where the customer is always wrong and that’s the media.”  —Rush Limbaugh

In the wake of the Journal News Publishing names and addresses of Gun owners, providing an interactive map, White Plains Police Department report that one of those published gun owners had a break-in Saturday night while the homeowner was away.

Westchester Rockland Newsday reported yesterday that at least two burglars broke into a home on Davis Avenue at 9:30 p.m. Saturday but were unsuccessful in an attempt to open a safe, containing legally owned firearms, according to a law enforcement source. One suspect was taken into custody and the gun owner was not home when the burglary occurred, the source added.

There was broken glass in the backyard Sunday and a ladder leading up to a second-story window. The homeowner’s name and address were included recently on the controversial interactive map of gun permit holders in Westchester and Rockland counties published on The Journal News’ website.

The news item stops short of linking the events of the Journal News’ list outing Rockland and Westchester County Gun Owners, however there exists a pregnant irony in the circumstances and timing of the two events.

I certainly hope the nexus is made between the Burglars and the Journal News List…and I hope it gets wide reporting.  Moreover, I hope the investigation reveals that the home was targeted because of  information provided in the Journal News was the guns. The arrogance of the Journal News may now show a tangible result.  Hope they are happy.
