Both Groksters Mike and Tom put up posts concerning the now out move “2016” – the stealth movie on Barack Obama (“who or what is he really?”). ‘Grok friend, Steve Patton, went to see the movie today and offered to write a quick review of his thoughts:
I took my family to see Dinesh D’Souza’s “2016” at the Fox Run Mall, just one day after it’s release. I can lay claim to being somewhat of a student of Barack Obama, having read his autobiography “Dreams From My Father” in 2008 as his election drew near. I published a website (now only found on the Wayback Machine) of direct quotes from the book, hoping to dissuade my countrymen from electing this anti-American as their next president, alas to no avail.
Much of the material for the movie “2016” comes from the book “Dreams From My Father” and is heavily supplemented by extensive research done by D’Souza. The movie is engaging, and insightful. My teenage children were equally interested in the content, sparking healthy conversations on the way home. Be forewarned, however, that the movie is not hopeful. A nation foolish enough to elect Obama once may indeed be foolish enough to do it again.
The key insight of the movie is the identification of Obama’s core principles. The journey to discover those principles is as unsettling as it is illuminating. The movie analyzes a number of confusing decisions by the President which highlight his true values even as they disorient most Americans and even traditional Democrats:
- Why did this President return the bust of Winston Churchill to Britain?
- Why does this President take the Palestinian position on any issue related to Israel?
- Why does this President take no action against Iran in acquiring nuclear bombs, while actively negotiating away larger and larger amounts of the US nuclear arsenal?
- Why is he the first US President to take Argentina’s position against Britain in the Falklands Island controversy?
I won’t spoil the movie by providing the full explanation, but Dinesh D’Souza has done an admirable job weaving these seemingly unrelated policies into a coherent, and highly anti-American world view which represents this President’s principles.
See “2016” and use its facts while you can. We only have about 60 days to change the face of America in 2016.
Thank you, Steve!
