Bob Nickerson of Sandown had a campaign sign confiscated. It was a Carol Shea-Porter sign he had modified himself to say "Dump Shea-Porter Out Of Congress, Nancy Pelosi’s Lap Dog." His first mistake seems to have been sending the Seiu-Porter campaign a picture of it. The campaign notified local police based on a state law that prohibits defacing campaign signs, and at the end of it all Bob lost his sign.
Bob seems to think his free speech rights have been violated.
The Porter camp claims that donors did not contribute money so others could take campaign property and deface it.
I have to agree with the Shea-socialists on that point, it is their property, and as they say, he could have paid for a sign and then would be within his rights do to whatever he wished. But I believe I have a relevant observation in his defense. I don’t think residents contributed their votes to candidate Porter, based in part on her claims that a 400 billion dollar deficit was irresponsible, only to have her spend trillions and trillions more of their money in just a few months.
On balance, I think Carol still owes Bob a few bucks so maybe they can call it even.
