The town of Gilmanton, New Hampshire appears to be violating first amendment protections for political speech.

 A New Hampshire town building inspector has asked property owners to take down signs suggesting selectmen don’t support the police, saying the messages appear to violate an ordinance against political signs.

Letters were sent to private property owners regarding signs that said, “We support Gilmanton Police Even if the Selectmen Don’t.”

Lame Duck Carol Shea-Porter Signs on To Latest “Assault Weapons” Ban

Mass shootings 1992-2016Democrat New Hampshire district one congressmember Carol Shea-Porter has signed on as a co-sponsor of a bill to ban “assault weapons.”

 In a press release, she said that “gun massacres” increased by 183 percent after the federal ban expired in 2004. “One law can’t stop every mass shooting, but we can make them less deadly and less frequent,” she said. “These weapons of war were designed for military use and have one purpose: to kill lots of people quickly and easily. We need to take action now.”

As usual, she’s misleading.

When Coral Springs police officers arrived at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14 in the midst of the school shooting crisis, many officers were surprised to find not only that Broward County Sheriff’s Deputy Scot Peterson, the armed school resource officer, had not entered the building, but that three other Broward County Sheriff’s deputies were also outside the school and had not entered, Coral Springs sources tell CNN. The deputies had their pistols drawn and were behind their vehicles, the sources said, and not one of them had gone into the school.

Words with ‘Man’ Should be Avoided

militant-snowflakePurdue University has an online writing and grammar resource that tells students to avoid using words with ‘man’ in them because such terms are sexist. But based on the reporting at Campus Reform, I don’t think they’ve quite got the hang of it.

Hence, instead of writing “mankind,” the OWL suggests that students write “humanity,” people,” or “human beings.”

So mankind is inappropriate, but humanity and human being are acceptable?

Roll Call reports that Levi Sanders is seriously considering a run for Congress in New Hampshire’s first Congressional District.

 I’m definitely considering it. I’m excited, motivated and interested in the race,” Sanders told Vice News Thursday. “I’m just dotting my I’s and crossing my T’s.”

So what are the differences between Bernie and Levi? According to Levi, “the basic difference is that I’m a vegetarian and he’s not.” Levi “plans to run on a super-progressive platform — Medicare for all and free college tuition.”

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 15% of American Adults say stricter gun control laws increase violent crime, while 39% think stricter laws would decrease violent crime.
