Two good bits of news out of the New Hampshire State Senate this week.

SB 490, an end of life study committee bill that was sold by the sponsor as a path to assisted suicide legislation, was put to death by a vote of 12-10.

Sens. Giuda, Daniels, and Gannon spoke against the bill during today’s floor debate. Sen. Soucy was the only Democrat to vote ITL, and her vote was critical to passage of the ITL motion.

Respect for the dignity of human life won when SB 490 lost.

Another bill put to bed, so to speak, was a pathway to fight for fifteen, proposed by Dem. Sen. Soucy.

The culture question will continue to dominate our discussion as we work our way through why a troubled kid shot up a school.  But Democrat-Progressive policy may have some part to play as well.

Back in July 2012, the Obama Administration formalized a rule warning school districts to consider race when handing down discipline. It warned against schools using “methods that result in disparate use of disciplinary tools.” 

In 2015 Broward County Florida, the county where 17 people just died in a mass shooting, adopted a plan along those lines.

We built a culture in which celebrity is our highest aspiration. When we cut ourselves loose from any virtue higher than others’ opinions of us, no one thought it would result in a generation of teens who eat Tide Pods for a few Youtube clicks.  Because no one ever thought.

Is anyone surprised that a California Democrat Wants To Tax Energy Consumption from Bitcoin Mining?

Bitcoin transactions require an enormous amount of energy. Dutch bank ING estimates that a single transaction consumes enough electricity to power a home for weeks. The expensive and energy-consuming verification process of transactions, otherwise known as mining, is meant to deter crime and fraud. Because Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies rose to prominence in 2017, research claims the total energy consumption from last year was more than the annual usage of 159 countries.

Some people must have better things to do with their time than being lectured to by the Social Justice Overseers in California,

[College Fix] When the UCLA Intergroup Relations Program recently hosted an event to allow the campus community to discuss “toxic masculinity,” 10 students showed up.
