Honoring your Oath? Others seem to believe your oath to the Constitution is not mere words. Here’s another one: Accountability

Accountability – a most hated word in politics. Oh sure, whoever the Political Class doesn’t like will be held to such (after all, they wield the power). But they never like it when the masses play the “turnabout fair play” game (or journalists, from what I seem, but I repeat myself as many in journalism are now card carrying members of the Political Class). Oh to be sure, we hear the high minded platitudes about “elections are when voters hold us accountable” – but some don’t like it when we do. However, what to do during the “in-between” times when recalls are not an option and you think that someone has violated their promise to voters? Hmm, this seems to be novel (reformatted, emphasis mine):

I, ________________________ one of the People of New Hampshire, come forward to complain against Stephen Shurtleff and 188 other members of the New Hampshire House of Representatives for Breaching their Oaths of Office and Conspiring against My Rights. I hereby present facts known and unknown to you in support of this complaint.

1. Stephen Shurtleff, a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, for the purpose of “accepting the trust” according to Article 84 of the New Hampshire Constitution, has sworn or affirmed the following Oaths.

So, why SHOULDN’T we hold our elected and appointed officials accountable for the words they utter as the first action of their terms, and to use those solemn words against which to measure their future actions? Shouldn’t they ALWAYS be mindful of what they have promised?

NH GOP Executive Board Meeting – Monday, April 15th (appropriate day?) – but not at the regular place

The Executive Board meeting meets on a regular basis and it is my understanding that it is open to all State Committee Members (at the very least). Well, I’ve never gone to one but have been told that it has enough for the E-Board member and about 10 or so more. Thus, when Jack Kimball was ousted (resigned), it was held in one of the Holiday Inn conference rooms (and it was pretty well packed). With all of the brouhaha happening concerning the NH GOP Chair Jennifer Horn / NH GOP Treasurer Robert Scott (tax liens vs Signatory authority on bank accounts), I think they gotta get a bigger room for that 6/6:30pm meeting)

Sidenote: I’ve heard from a lot of people concerning the Coos County vote of no confidence in NH GOP Jennifer Horn, most agree with it but a number have complained that it was not “properly noticed” – including from the Area 1 Vice Chair Vicki Schwaegler. Well, I dryly note that on the NH GOP Calender, at the time of this post, the E-Board (on which she is a member) meeting has not been “properly noticed“.

I have heard that they HAVE now moved the meeting – from an email from a loyal reader who wanted to let me know that there may be legal ramifications:

Last night I put up this post – a Presser by the Coos County Republican Committee sent out by Eric Catman, the Coos County Chair:

Be it resolved that we the members of the Coos County Republican Committee do hereby issue this resolution due to recent actions of Chairman Jennifer Horn in her handling of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee.

Whereas the recent attack on longtime New Hampshire Republican State Committee Treasurer Robert Scott by Chairman Horn has distracted the party from its objectives…

Well, THAT didn’t take long – the Area 1 Vice Chair Vicki Schwaegler seemingly immediately ran to the media in full out damage control (some reformmating, emphasis mine):

A no-confidence vote taken by members of the Coos County Republican Committee against New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Jennifer Horn Wednesday night via conference call was not an official act, according to the party’s vice chairman, Vicki Schwaegler.

Please note that she is not THE Vice Chair – that would be JP Marzullo; Vicki is only 1 of 5 AVPs; in fact, this next part of the article is absolutely wrong:

We aren’t them! Or is this just the normal “I’m a politician and I feel vulnerable if not everyone likes me”? I read stuff like this:

Vice President Joe Biden gave a heated speech on reducing gun violence this afternoon, lashing out at Republican senators who have vowed to filibuster the gun-control legislation. “It’s almost mind-boggling,” Biden said to law-enforcement officials in Washington, D.C.

He asked the senators to consider how their actions are being viewed by the international community: “In sophisticated capitals and in less-sophisticated capitals, they all reported on Sandy Hook, they all reported on Aurora.” “What do you think is being said today in those capitals about us?” the vice president asked. “Imagine what they’re saying, gentlemen and ladies, in other capitals around the world today.”

and I don’t know whether to scream or cry. Who cares what they say? Why is it that our leading politicians give the indication they are ashamed of their country (Obama’s Apology tour and now this)? Filibustering is part of the way that the Senate decided, according to the Constitution, to run itself. Biden, after decades in the Senate, should know that. Or staying with the Progressive meme, just another crass attempt at poking holes in the Constitution (I’d say like Swiss Cheese, but the Swiss are all armed)? Why is it that our leaders wish to lower us (and yes, that is the proper word) to their level in not trusting their citizens (versus the Founders that trusted we Citizens – but not future (current?) leaders not so much – by enshrining our previously existing Right to defend ourselves and our Free State).

Indeed. Especially when one is Commander-in-Chief instead of Blameless-In-All-Things. Really, other than the Drone killings, and indicating he was fine with the Affordable Care Act being called Obamacare, what positive things has he done? Yes, I know – OBL. However, that was a continuation of a program that preceded him – any President would have given that order. Yes, as it turns out (I bookmarked this a couple of days ago) the Navy used its protocol to send two additional destroyers without getting Presidential approval – it wasn’t needed. In fact, new DoD Sec. Hagel didn’t even have to approve it. Yet, Obama choose to hide behind (not lead from behind) and…

On a Firefox tab somewhere, I have a couple of posts I wish to comment on this very topic (just can’t seem to find them today) – that America can turn into a Tyrannical Government (especially if Progressives succeed in doing away with the Constitution – the ONLY bulwark we citizens have against an overreaching government.
