A market that depends on government subsidies will not long be a market

This caught my eye: Is New Hampshire solar racing toward a brick wall? and this snippet at that post, once again, proves the title. The growth is being driven by the falling cost of solar hardware, the increased availability of financing for residential and utility-scale solar, and the urgency of buyers and sellers to get … Read more

“Regulate me or lie”

Great line by Steve on Heritage’s showing their take our NH Delegation to DC (Frank Guinta (R), Jeanne Shaheen (D), Kelly Ayotte).  Heritage on NH delegationGiven that, my  question is this – is Kelly Ayottee, ostensibly from the Party that champions individual Freedom, at ALL concerned that Ann Kuster is that close to her in the rankings? That there is little to no difference between the two (13 points)? Does that show a real difference in governance style – especially as Kuster actively campaigned the first time around as being the “most Socialist”?

Will there be a tinsey bit of “oopsies” there now that a Big Flashlight has been shined at her? It certainly will be indicative if votes are compared from now until the election to those from now and previous.

Notable Quote- P.J. O’Rourke

All politicians hate people. Politics is a way to gain power over people without justification for having that power. Nothing in the 11,000-year history of politics—going back to the governing elites of Mesopotamia—indicates that politicians are wiser, smarter, kinder, more moral, or better skilled at any craft (aside from politics) than we are. But political … Read more

NH Right To Life – suit to find the WHYs / WHATs / HOWs of that illegal PP funding by the Feds

baby in wombWe’ve blogged a number of times that the last time the Republicans held all 5 seats of the NH Executive that they voted to deny funding to Planned Parenthood here in NH.  Then, so it seems, that the Federal Government’s Ambassador to NH, Jeanne Shaheen, just happened to ante up lots of Fed money (e.g., NH taxpayers’ money) to “federally override” a lawfully elected NH Exec. Council’s vote.  Surprised?  No – that is what Progressives do – they sneer at local control and authority.  But NH Right To Life had to file suit to get their FOIA (Right to Know) information behind how that money got delivered – and have been stonewalled by the US Government (Irony: Obama promised to have the most transparent Administration EVAH – how’s that worked out so far??).  From LifeNews  (reformatted, emphasis mine):

Obama Admin Defends Secrecy of $1 Million Grant to Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz

The Obama administration is defending the secrecy of a $1 million grant to the New Hampshire affiliate of the Planned Parenthood abortion business in 2011…The Obama administration is keeping documents secret related to a non-competitive grant the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded directly to Planned Parenthood of Northern New England in 2011 without going through state approval or standard protocols and despite the fact that the state decided not to fund Planned Parenthood that year.

Data Point: Death by Illegal Aliens

Let’s look at a few numbers. You haven’t seen them in the New York Times, Atlanta Constitution, or the Miami Herald, nor have they been featured on NBC Nightly news or CNN. So, the average American is blissfully unaware of them. Between 2008 and 2014, 40% of all murder convictions in Florida were criminal aliens. In New York it was 34% … Read more

Trust me, George Will, they aren’t gonna listen to you and they don’t care about “their political elders”

As I have written about before, there is a part of the electorate that has just about had it with the Republican Party.  I watched Gorge Will as he spoke about them on Fox News Sunday after Laura Ingraham talked about the part of the Republican base that is tired of working hard but have no results for putting R butts in Congressional / Senatorial seats – and how will they win without those 10-30% of the base that thinks this. Far be it for me to take on one of the most erudite thinkers on the Right, but on this with his attitude, he’s dead wrong.  Worse, he’s dead wrong and is condescending about it.  Throw in a bit of what I call the Establishment GOP’s belief that they are entitled to Republican votes, and you’re still way short of the mark of how bad Will sounded to these ears:

These are voters the Republicans want, the Republicans want all voters, and particularly these voters, but to say that he’s tapped into something;… {shaking head} … Henry Wallace tapped into something, with the far left of American Politics in the late 40’s; the John Birch society tapped into something, George Wallace tapped into something, and it was up to the grown-ups in the labor movement in the late 1940’s, and the grown-ups in the conservative movement in the 1960’s to read those elements the riot act, and say: come back in, but come back in on our terms because we are not going down the road you want to go”

We saw how well THAT worked out here in NH, didn’t we?  Yes, I am QUITE sure that the NH GOPpers were extremely angry at the outcome

Gosh, I immediately thought of…

…Democrat policies. You see, they always are thinking that their policies are something that doesn’t match actual reality. (H/T: PInterest)

So, Obama is ready to throw away this vet’s sacrifice?

What will US Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and US Congresswoman Annie Kuster (D-NH) do?  What WILL they do?  Will they continue to support Obama in this utterly disasterous treaty “executive agreement” on ideological Party lines with rose colored glasses in hopes that a country that has been screaming “Death to America!!” and actually bringing death to … Read more

Suitable for the new Obama / EPA “Clean Power”:

Houston Housing Authority Lance Gilliam – where in political spectrum does he stand?

Forget that health care is a right, not a privilege

“Your blog is widely read and respected”

Lance Gilliam

As I mentioned here, Lance Gilliam (a Partner at the Waterman-Steele Group, a real estate and PR firm in Houston and internationally) who is the head of the Houston Housing Authority  contacted me about my post on an impending use of eminent domain in Houston’s Fifth Ward that would also “take out” a couple of churches. My original interest was that lesbian Houston Mayor Annise Parker was so upset with pastors rising up against her HERO ordinance (“yes, we will let men into the ladies bathrooms; stop complaining!) that she issued subpoenas against them demanding their sermons, all correspondence and communications, and the like if they discussed any aspect of homosexuality.  In essense, Government was all too willing to censor the Free Expression of religion, contra the First Amendment.  She lost the court suit and now it has to go to the ballot. His message was that Parker’s actions are not connected to his even if churches are involved.

So with that as a background, in steps Lance Gilliam.  During our conversation he tried to make equivalence between he and it on politics to a degree.  I’ve given him the chance to write a rebuttal and invited him to be on GrokTALK! – thus far I have not heard back.  So, I decided to do a bit of looking around – are we the same?  Here’s some snippets (one is above)

RedState Gathering – Ted Cruz

RedState is a site that is a daily read for me.  OK, I have to admit, multiple times a day and I link to the writers there a lot.  Anyways, this weekend is the 2015 RedState Gathering down in Atlanta and a number of the present Republican Prez Wannabees were invited to speak to that community.  Maybe, maybe, one of these days I may get to go but since one of those days isn’t this year, I’ll settle for video:

A couple of other posts had some info as well:

“Do they care enough about stopping the horrors of Planned Parenthood to actually put up a fight?”

That is the question asked at Townhall on yet again, Senate Majority Mitch McConnell puts morality behind a government shut down in priorities of DC.  Or to put it another way – is this yet another battle that the Republican elite, that much of the base cares deeply about, will runaway from?

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell strongly implied yesterday that he wouldn’t push to defund Planned Parenthood in the September appropriations negotiations. McConnell seemed to express fears that such a fight could backfire on public perception of Republicans, particularly if it led to the threat of a government shutdown:

We’ve been down this path before,” McConnell said. “This is a tactic that has been tried going back to the ’90s and it always has the same ending — that the focus is on the government shutdown and not on the underlying issue that is being protested.  We are not doing government shutdowns and we are not threatening to default on the national debt.”

Yes, we have been down this road before.  What was the effective result of the very partial government shutdown?  Well, blowhards in punitryland

I love it when Chris “Tingly Leg” Matthews get pwned – and Carly Fiorina does it

Update: Forgot to post up her RedState Gathering speech as well – after the jump.

While Obama did affect the nervous system in Matthew’s leg, Carly takes a figurative baseball bat to his other political love, Hillary Clinton – and there’s nothing he can do about it:

(H/T: Free Beacon)  This is yet another indication – when Republicans actually fight back (and do it effectively), they win.  Carly’s been doing it by banging on Hillary like the #1 drummer in the USC Trojan marching band.  And right after the debate, she continues that roll but this time, Matthews is getting the action end of the stick as there is NOTHING he can say contrary to what she’s saying – all he can do is sputter about “tone” and cannot refute a single lie that Carly enumerates. He’s speechless when she stops – for all of his bluster, he knows he’s been schooled.  Hard.

Screw you, Chris, you political hack with a byline.  You go girl, Carly!  Daily Signal adds (reformatted, emphasis mine):

Really, Obama has brought in the ChiComs / Russians to talk up his Iran deal – to CONGRESS?

This is HIGHLY disturbing – and very much illustrates that Obama’s words of “a proud citizen of the United States, and a fellow citizen of the world“. What does it say about being a proud citizen of the United States when HE can’t hold his own to his fellow Dems in Congress and has to bring in our historical enemies to “vouch” for him.  Anyone else see this as absolute insanity as well as proving him to be not just a Post-Constitutionalist but a Post-American as well? Reformatted, emphasis mine:

Nothing says the Iran nuclear deal is great for America like sending Chinese and Russian lobbyists to convince Democrats to vote for it.

Some of Washington’s less reliable partners are worried too: Top diplomats from Russia and China joined a rare meeting of world powers’ envoys on Capitol Hill this week with roughly 30 Senate Democrats to tamp down concerns over the nuclear agreement.

When ELSE have you ever heard of this?  Trust me, the Chinese and Russians do NOT have America’s best interests in mind.

BlogThought of the Day: Trust me, it’s you and not voters

Dear candidates: maybe it’s time to stop asking “what’s wrong” with Trump. “The question isn’t what’s wrong with Trump. He’s winning. And the question darned sure shouldn’t be what’s wrong with the voters who respond to him positively. That’s a political suicide dive. The real question is and has always been, why aren’t you doing better?“ But … Read more
