Riffing off the campaign mantra that Hillary Clinton should be elected President simply because she is female (or has she self-selected any other gender “in solidarity”?) – this is a valid reason to be President, just because she has “lady parts” (methinks just putting up with Bill’s philandering all these years MIGHT be a better sympathy angle, but that’s her own dang fault)?  Via Bety’s Page is this observation about Carly Fiorina, a most proper one IMHO, by Kimberly Strassel:

After all, we see the Obama Government inserting itself into as many nooks and crannies as it can, when we see the two Democrat Prez front runners equally willing to take that stand of Obama and juice with a 55 gallon drum full of steroid to dragoon the US into deeper and deeper levels of socialism where nothing allowed unless it is planned (yet, they call it “solidarity” in cooperation). Instead of cooperation, it is co-opted coercion.  The Left refuses to understand that free markets, on the other hand, are the HEIGHT of cooperation with order coming out of chaos and all decisions are decentralized over billions of transactions.  Socialism imposes its will into its people; with free markets, people infuse it with voluntary cooperation.  Professor Don Boudreaux has a great post on this:

Trump has been saying that he paid both R and D politicians because they’d do things for or on his behalf – simply a cost of doing business.  Seems like there’s a whole lot of folks that are now saying that investing in one particular politician is a fool’s investment – and they ain’t fools (emphasis mine):

CNN asked a number of celebrities what questions they would ask the Republicans in this past Wednesday’s Republican Debate.  Out of the 25 picked, only 7 or 8 would vote for a Republican.  The last one on the page was Fred and his short answer told me all I needed to know about his politics:

“President Ronald Reagan said, ‘Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!’ Why would the U.S. build one?”

as well as his knowledge of basic history – after all, his age says he should know why

The former director of Norway’s Nobel Institute revealed this week that he regrets the committee’s decision to give the 2009 Nobel Peace award to President Obama.

Geil Lundestad, director at the institute for 25 years, said in his just-published memoir that he and the committee had unanimously decided to grant the award to Mr. Obama just after his election in 2009 more in hopes of aiding the American president to achieve his goals on nuclear disarmament, rather than in recognition of what Mr. Obama had already accomplished.

3 hours worth for the “adult table” with 11 Prez Wannabees with a liberal moderator that often seem more intent in starting squabbles on stage than actually asking questions that conservatives want to hear on this issues was almost too much even for me. No, no posting here but I did do a lot of tweeting / retweeting of others.  While I prefer to do long form writing, but can do short when I concentrate, 140 characters encapsulating a single thought is a much better medium to capture events like a debate.  And this time, I spent ALMOST as much time watching other peoples’ impressions as I was watching the debate myself.  You can see them here at our Twitter feed, @GraniteGrok (along with tweets announcing our latest posts).

THE NIGHT BEFORE: HOBNOBBING WITH JEB: “It’s clear — he said as much — that he is itching to run against Hillary Clinton,” Roger Simon writes of his first meeting with the former Florida governor.

If only Jeb didn’t seem even more eager to run against the GOP base first, he might be better positioned for his wish to be granted.
