I try to make the rounds of the NH newspapers; this morning at the Concord Monitor I came across a Letter to the Editor from someone who definitely doesn’t understand his civics (emphasis mine):

Letter: Cheated by Ayotte, GOP

Sen. Ayotte was recently quoted as saying she believes “the American people deserve to have a voice in the direction of the court.” That was code for her position that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is right to not even consider President Obama’s nomination of Judge Garland for a seat on the Supreme Court until a new president is elected.

That’s all fine and dandy, but what about my vote? One of the reasons I voted for Barack Obama in 2012, and not Mitt Romney, is I wanted Obama, not Romney, to nominate the candidates to fill any Supreme Court vacancies that occurred during the following four years. I feel cheated by Sen. Ayotte and her Republican colleagues.

Perhaps the executive branch should stop using tax dollars to fund the current expenses of the U.S. Senate, on the assumption that the Senate elected in November will be more responsive to its constituents.

Yup, another Sunday, another CloseUP and this week, Josh McElven had US Senator Jeanne Shaheen (or better described as the Federal Government’s Ambassador to New Hampshire) and perhaps Candidate-To-Be Rich Ashooh for US Congress in CD-1 (he formally announces tomorrow).  She said a couple of things that caught my ear so I figured, per normal, to add my thoughts.

That said, you can see that I started to manually do the transcription (the lower case) but today I saw that WMUR provided one.  Well, they SAY that do but I found that it SUCKS.  You can tell because I left theirs in UPPER CASE and I filled in with lower case.  Ya’d think a multi-million if they were going to do transcripts, WOULD DO TRANSCRIPTS!

In the second third of CloseUP, Rich Ashooh did his pre-announcement announcement for US Congress in CD-1 and challenging Frank Guinta, the incumbent.  We covered Rich back in 2010 when he ran the first time and I guess the interactions I had with him were favorable – I started calling him “Gentleman Rich” as he was always the perfect gentleman.  It will be interesting to see how this goes – and I wonder if his entrance into the race had anything to do with Dan Innis’s rather quick exit from it.

Anyways, he got the same question about the opiate problem here in NH that Jeanne Shaheen did.  But first McElven asked him about the current political climate – and I thought his answer a bit curious:

An armed citizen cornered armed robbers and told them, “My gun is bigger than yours.” According to Cleveland.com, police say two armed suspects, a 19-year-old Parma man and an 18-year-old Cleveland man, entered Suleyman’s Supermarket on Cleveland’s West Side just before 10 p.m. and demanded money.  The store owner gave the suspects around $300, and they turned to leave, only to see a police officer standing outside. Panicked, the two armed men ran through the store to exit in the back, but were stopped by a citizen with a gun.

You’ve seen the Leftist protesters at the Trump rallies and they have said they will be targeting other Republicans and the Republican Convention – anyone my age or older remembers Chicago ’68 when the same type of folks tried to force the Democrats to their will. Not exactly non-violent, was it?  So now the NH Rebellion has decided that it is going to participate in a march with these folks – their Presser is after the jump – and it is clear from reading the Leftist sites that the NH Rebellion is whitewashing what is about to happen.

From that screenshot, can you tell him apart from any run of the mill Democrat (much less Hillary or Bernie, who share those values)?  Go here to see which NH politicians share those values by their endorsements (like Judd Gregg and John E Sununu).

He was quoted on WMUR on that line a couple of nights ago.  When I heard it, I just shook my head – what Conservative would say such a thing?  Conservatarians don’t want to change the world they want to, you know, conserve it.  We don’t believe we are the ones that should (or can) force large numbers of folks to change their lifestyles just because we think it would be better for them.  Oh sure, we may try to persuade them of it but ultimately it is their choice.

Once again, the blame resides entirely with Democrats for these job losses that otherwise would not occur – not a single Republican in the US House or Senate voted to effectively nationalize the nation’s healthcare and healthcare insurance industries.  And as we go further into it, we see that costs are going up, this Affordable Care Act is turning more and more unaffordable, and it is having large negative impacts on the “little people” that Democrats profess to be for.  Such is the transformation that Obama promised.  From the Laconia Citizen (emphasis mine, reformatted):
