GET OUT OF NYC – James Hanson (climate scientist) said it will be underwater by morning!

Heh!  Yet another “science based” climate alarmism prediction down the tubes: Say goodbye to Lower Manhattan, everybody! By midnight tonight, it will be gone forever—drowned by the melting icecaps of the disappearing Arctic…it will be a tremendous vindication for the expertise of James Hansen, the former director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) … Read more

Happy New Year – 2018

Well, it has been quite the year, hasn’t it?  Certainly there’s been no dearth of issues, ideas, subjects, people, and pet peeves to write about (and the occasional Palate Cleanser along the way). The problem for most of us is not what to write about but getting the time to do so with family, friends, … Read more

Happy New Year 2018 – hardest hit is the Socialist union known as SEIU and the Fight for $15 union organizers

SEIU Fight for 15

Heh!

Do you notice the irony of a giant tax cut motivating big companies to institute a $15/hour minimum wage for their workers? Could we at least get an “Amen!” from the Fight for 15 people?

Remember a while ago that agitators from various unions, especially the SEIU, were flogging and picketing fast food chains like McDonalds, Wendy’s, and Burger King, especially in bigger cities?  They wanted the employees to step out of their stores and demand far more than what they were worth at the time.  Led by union organizers from the SEUI (who could have cared less about their future members – they spent millions in trying to acquire millions of new dues paying members), they made it a national news story.  While the cameras were out front, the unions were getting their faces into their Democrat elected officials to get their economic demands codified into law – notably in California and New York (who knew?) with the expected results now that the minimum wages are skyrocketing. So I have to laugh – Trump has screwed them all over.  Instead of

A wee tilt for the Party of Government by the Government?

Money - SatchelThat would be the Democrats and are well known as the Party of Government.  Why not? It seems that most of the employees are tilted towards one Party and it aint the Republicans.  Like this department:

VIRTUALLY EVERY DAY OF 2016, SOMEBODY IN DOJ DC WAS GIVING MONEY TO HILLARY: More than 2,600 individual donations were to the Clinton campaign by donors who listed the Department of Justice or one of its elements, like the FBI, as their employers. Their contributions totaled more than $416,000. Trump got a little more than $20,000 from a mere 61 such employees.

Only 268 of them lived in the Washington, D.C. but their combined total of more than $242,000 was half of all the DOJ/FBI donors to Clinton. That’s a drop in the bucket of $1.2 billion that Clinton spent in losing to Donald Trump but the huge gulf between DOJ backers of Clinton and Trump sheds additional light on why congressional Republicans are raising a growing stink about partisan bias in DOJ and the FBI.

I guess they did put their money where their mouths were –

“Small arsenal”? Sounds to me like the guy was getting ready for a 3-gun match

3 gun competitionI am by NO means a gun expert but this headline at Fox was guffaw bait:

Man found with small arsenal on Houston Hyatt Regency’s top floor before New Year’s Eve celebration, police say.

Don’t worry, Fox, other media outlets had similar headlines but being more of a conservative outlet, you had NO one there to double check the copy first (that is, if he or she could stop laughing first)?  You know – facts?  Correct description?  Then I saw what constituted a “small arsenal”:

Best female UN Ambassador since Jeane Kirkpatrick!

I had been hoping for John Bolton but Nikki Haley has performed magnificently in putting America (and our interests) First instead of playing footsies in the UN swamp.  Really like the “taking names” bit and no longer playing the kumbaya “one big world family” farce. (H/T: Powerline)

Will NH all Democrat female contingent protest Willie Singletary like they did Roy Moore?

Willie SingletaryAfter all, at every turn our all Democrat Congressional delegation (e.g., Jeanne “Obamacare” Shaheen, Maggie “The Red” Hassan, Annie “I’m the most Progressive” Kuster, and Carol SEIU-Porter) denounced Republiacn Judge Ray Moore who was running to fill former US Senator and now US Attorney General Jeff Session’s Senate seat from Alabama on the basis of the allegations of sexual harassment.  Frankly, I’m betting that it was mostly because he said he’d really support Trump’s agenda and would be a reliable vote.  But now, we may really find out if the sexual harassment part was primary because now one of their own (a Democrat) is planning on running for Congress from Pennsylvania (emphasis mine):

A former Philadelphia judge named Willie Singletary has been in the public eye for quite a while and unfortunately for him, it’s not all been good. First, he was forced to resign after it was discovered that he sexually harassed a city cashier and sent her pictures of his genitals. He was suspected, and forced to resign after an investigation revealed some unsavory details.

BlogQuestion of the Day – how come NH Democrats are against equal opportunity???

“Wealthy families have the means to find the best school for each child. Should not all New Hampshire parents?” states Rep. Glenn Cordelli, R-Tuftonboro, for the majority of the Education Committee. HB 193 should pass (now, even the NH Attorney General says it is Constitutional).  Afte all, “it’s for the children”! Oh, that’s right – … Read more

Data Point – Great news from an otherwise whining Washington Post piece

Behold – another Trump campaign promise being met: If you read the piece, this is supposed to be anathema and really bad news; so is the following chart showing that Trump isn’t filling all of the political appointment slots that he could be.  Normally I’d go “so what, good start and keeping making it smaller” … Read more

For all those on the Left that keep harping she won the popular vote

Here’s her participation trophy – and that’s about all it means.  Sure, that what she got (pretty much the margin came from Californiastan) but it never has and continues to never matter thanks to the Founders glorious mechanism called the Electoral College whose purpose was EXACTLY to not let the larger States determine the Presidential … Read more

Data Point – If it were still up to Obama’s policies, you’d have frozen pipes right about now

Coal to the rescue as record cold grips the East That’s right – the natural resource that Obama declared war against (his promise to bankrupt any new coal fired electrical plant) from before his first inauguration.  He poured billions of our tax dollars into “renewables” that basically only renewed the wealth of the politically connected … Read more

Notable Quote – Randy Barnett

As Madison predicted, the greatest danger to the liberties of the people lies where the greatest power resides, which in a republic is in the majority of the people.  By harnessing the powers of the majority, the progressives were able to overcome the barriers of the Republican Constitution. Having breached those barriers, however, progressives then … Read more

Data Point – ICE deportations of interior illegal immigrants on the rise

Another Govt Rent-Seeker for Govt run PAID Family Leave – HB 628 – Dr. Oge Young – Part 1

HB 628: Paid family and medical leave

Rent-Seeking from Government
Rent-Seeking from Government

SurPRISE!  Yet another Op-Ed in the Concord Monitor genuflecting at the Altar of Big Govt: “Pray, give us this “benefit” even as we could do it ourselves? Once again, supplication from one whose industry very well could be sucking at yet another teat of Government (you know, the medical part of Family and MEDICAL Leave Insurance system).  Golly, who’d a thunk that a past Prez of the NH Medical Society would be holding out the tip jar?  Notice how he starts out with the “gifting” part first – who DOESN’T want a brand new goody (especially of the lion’s share of the cost comes from others) (reformatted, emphasis mine).  Just like Steve Duprey, here’s the hand on the take right off the bat:

Creating a family and medical leave insurance system would ensure workers the benefits they need and help businesses of all sizes be more competitive. More than 100 New Hampshire businesses, including Concord Hospital, have signed a letter asking our lawmakers to pass HB 628.

That’s right, give me some of that old time religion Govt money!

Email Doodlings – “You will be made to care”

“There are two sides to bigotry. There are those who openly oppose it, and then those who foster it. People who stay silent in the face of this bigotry provide quiet support for it.

I have no idea how I got put onto the “Cinema Libre Studio”‘s (that would be “Free Cinema” – will they be sending out free tickets?  I rather think not) email list but such as is it.  Given my response to their email, I don’t think that I’ll be on it for long.  I’ve bolded the part of this victim filled inbound email that caught my attention (and look at who is starring in it – CAIR and the Southern Poverty Law Center, Black Lives Matter…and nary a word that it is those of the Jewish faith that are most discriminated against (anti-Semitism anyone?):

Trump’s CDC Word Ban and the Reality for Minorities

Unamerican StruggleTHE UNAMERICAN STRUGGLE

Los Angeles, CA, December 19, 2017 (Newswire.com) – Winner of the Award of Merit at indieFEST Film Awards and Best Political Documentary at Atlanta Docufest, THE UNAMERICAN STRUGGLE documentary is the first examination of the rise in hate crimes and bigoted rhetoric since the election of Donald J. Trump.

Last month, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reported that hate crimes had increased by nearly 5% since 2015 in their annual Incidents of Hate report. The report recorded that 5,818 “single-bias” incidents occurred, in which one or more offense types, or incidents, were motivated by the same bias. Of those, 59.2% were motivated by a racial, ethnic and/or ancestry bias; 19.7% by a religious bias; 17.7% by a sexual orientation bias; and 3.3% by a gender identity, disability or gender bias.

For activists on the front line of the identity politics movement, this rise in hate crimes is not a surprise, and many of them feel the numbers are underreported.

Disqus Doodlings – Another Govt Rent-Seeker for Govt run PAID Family Leave – HB 628 – Dr. Oge Young – Part 2

Rent-Seeking from Government
Rent-Seeking from Government

Of course I can’t just leave this issue with just a post – I left a couple of comments where I hope Dr. Oge “Big Government” Young (seemingly both a rent-seeker and someone that believes that Government can and should solve all ills – sure thing, sport).  Sure, it was the primary bit for the post but I went a bit further:

Creating a family and medical leave insurance system would ensure workers the benefits they need and help businesses of all sizes be more competitive.” Really?

Benefits used to be voluntarily offered by companies above and beyond what one receives as a salary or wage (that is, until Government decided to mandate them as with Obamacare). And in this case, the legislation MANDATES that employees take part (a la Obamacare) – where’s the Live Free or Die choice in that?

Further, if this was such a lovely idea to make businesses “more competitive”,
