GrokTALK!: A School Funding Crisis Two-Fer

New Hampshire is facing a Constitutional crisis regarding school funding. We broke this story Saturday, which adds fuel to that fire.

It should be obvious to all who read the summary that the outcome of that court decision quite likely would have been completely different had they been made aware that this document existed.

I’ve got two options, the first is local and very NH-specific. The second is NH-focused, but the questions apply universally to tax-funded education everywhere.

The first is a much-needed revisit to a past show with Tom Murray from the Government Integrity Project. He joined me to explain the constitutional education crisis in New Hampshire. A problem that the article above adds to. Note: Resolved a sketchy audio issue in the first two minutes. Sound is excellent after that.

The second program for your consideration is with Ian and Jody Underwood and explores not just ed funding but what the hell it is we’re paying for and why it isn’t working the way we were promised. An examination of what education should be compared to what we got, and why it would be better for everyone if we called it what it was, so we could find a path to graduating kids with literacy and numeracy, assuming that’s what you want your money spent toward.

GrokTALK! has been the eponymous podcasting vehicle of Granitegrok.com since its inception in 2011/2012 (before podcasting was PODCASTING).

Several iterations of the program have begun and ended, including a three-year continuous run of nearly 200 weekly two-hour episodes. Several attempts at a remote version happened, but it wasn't until late 2024 that owner and editor Steve MacDonald rebooted it as a weekly podcast.

Note: if you find an old episode you want to hear or watch and the audio or video is not available, email steve@graniteGrok.com and he will dig it out of the archive and reattach it to its post page.
