“The ‘Caring Society’ Was a Myth Used in Service of Other Agendas”

If fear was the COVID hammer, then the “caring society” was the tongs. People were held to account by the notion of collective empathy while politicians and the media pounded them against the anvil with their one-path policy prescriptions. Lockdowns, masks, distancing, and their vaccine.

Early on, COVID theater began to suffer as evidence mounted. And by early, I mean before the two-weeks-to-stop-the-spread early. We may have given them three, but after that, we could see the old whore of tyranny hiding under the new dress.

Masks never worked like that. Distancing was the whimsical notion of a 14-year old’s school science project. Lockdowns have never worked (unless the goal was the opposite of public health – which they proved), and the vaccine, well, that’s a total failure, but they are literally “sticking” with that one.

And they are still plying narratives like you’ll kill grandma, do it for your neighbor, and our collective public good. But as University College London, environmental anthropologist Peter Sutoris, Ph.D., reminds us, there’s nothing caring about prioritizing one threat to life over another.

A narrow focus on Covid-19 within healthcare systems, for example, has led to many preventable deaths from other causes; in the UK alone, tens of thousands of people might die prematurely because of the lack of cancer diagnostics which was shut down during the country’s multiple lockdowns. If we are a ‘caring society’, why did we choose to prioritise one threat to life over all others?

The inconsistencies go even deeper. If unprecedented lockdowns were justified as a response to the pandemic, why are Western societies reluctant to take much more modest, less intrusive and less costly measures against other sources of preventable death?

The title is a quote from the same piece, and it states about as clearly as we can the problem with letting a few folks in positions of assumed authority grab significantly more of it. Our constitutions were crafted to prevent such a thing in the US regardless of whether the legislature created unconstitutional laws claiming these power grabs as legitimate.

Fortunately, for some, they had judges who agreed, but in most instances, the opposite was true. The judiciary was as scared as many others and not just about the virus. If they ruled in favor of law ( or the constitution), they swore to protect and defend, and lots of people died, who in the political class wouldn’t use that for another sort of hammer?

As it turns out, lots of people died because of the overreach. The preferred policies made matters worse all around. But it’s easier to pretend that the death we saw was the conspiracy theory and toe the ruling class lie we were meant to internalize than that the latter was a big mistake.

And not just a mistake but the equivalent of a criminal conspiracy that killed more than they saved.

There will be no COVID equivalent to Nuremberg. I feel confident the guilty will go unpunished. But it’s worse than that. They are likely to revert to form at the next opportunity, caring-society-myth in hand.

We advise you all to arm yourselves with the necessary evidence, much of which you can find on these pages.

Great harm was done outside the actual injuries resulting from the vaccines themselves, too numerous to reiterate here. And, obviously, as the title implies, when you ignore known or increasingly apparent harms in the forced service of some advertised good, your agenda is the only thing about which you care.

And that’s true of everything the ruling class does, so no one should be surprised, but that’s no reason to stop challenging them, no matter what they call it.
