Quick observation: all week long, one Leftist / Progressive / Democrat has trotted out the meme that it had to be a white TEA Party extremist that set off the bombs – someone who loves a lo-cal Government struggling on a pittance. Three examples: David Axelrod’s “hanging” innuendo of a tax day protest, Charles Pierce that it as a “patriot” because of the MA Patriot Day holiday, CNN, David Sirota – and that’s just from today’s quick run through my normal blog readings (there have been a LOT since Monday – here’s a better list).
Chalk it up to the Progressive politicization of everything where nothing is off limits. They just couldn’t wait to see what actually developed – after all, they traffic in emotion and not facts. They were wailing before it was known if this tragedy was created by a lone wolf or an entire cell network behind this. Yes, the Right reacted as well, but mostly AFTER the first few punches / tweets / quotes / op-eds had already been unleashed by the Left who just couldn’t constrain their hatred. They were DYING that it be their opposition. Not just any opposition, but those that keep them from achieving their goals. You see, they believe they ARE the moral ground (and not just merely standing on it or holding it). Their fevered minds believe if they can JUST show that their political opposition is as evil as they believe that are (re: that old saw that Conservatives think that Liberals are just wrong / misguided; Liberals believe Conservatives are EEEEEvil), they could convince the Middle to hate them as well.
Me? I think it is just
them going ad hominem because they have no other logical argument to make, but that they still have this overriding need in their soul to completely destroy their opposition. It is not enough win an argument with a Conservative, Libertarian, or a TEA Partier, or win a political race. They will not be happy unless that person is totally beaten into a pulp – just think of the how simple gotcha techniques have turned into stomping sessions. It is no longer enough to secure apologies when someone on the Right crosses one of THEIR Political Correctness tripwires. Instead, they will do what they can to permanently discredit that person, to vilify them, and to make them so toxic, they shut up. And that is the goal – to take them off the field of politics, yet another impediment pawn removed from the table. And that is why the Left hoped, sang, cried, screamed and prayed (prayed – really?) this past week – an action so heinous that they could take an entire class of people out “See, one of you did THAT! YOU share their values, so you must be just as rotten and EEEEvil!”
Go back and read what they have said and written – it’s almost that they show they want to hate the Marathon Bombers not so much for what they’ve done but for who they are. Or, who they WISH they would be.
Well, as we have seen from the photos, they at least got the White part right, so rev your engines . But now that they have turned out to Muslim Jihadists, the Left has all but gone silent (except for Chuckie and Obama is, once again, imploring us to not rush to judgement on an entire class of people.
Well, given that the Left was absolutely ready to hate on Conservatives, Republicans, Libertarians, TEA Partiers, Constitutionalists, and (in this state, Free State Project members) for being the bombers, let’s ask the pregnant question: how much longer do we have to wait before we hear the Lefty Haters start in on Islamofacists?
You know, the ones that have actually killed people (unlike the “violent” TEA Partiers, who merely pick up their mess after a rally)? Or have militant Muslims become yet another Democrat politically protected class?
C’mon – dispel the growing hypocrisy over this? If you Progressives were so willing to hate Conservatives for actions we did not commit, you MUST be willing to hate those that actually did it, right/
Right? Or is this where I start queuing up the crickets again…..
