The many flavors of communism promise a lot while appealing to peoples’ envy. With your support, they will “stick it to the Man” only to turn around and become the “Man,” leaving nothing to envy.

What a sell job – a snow job, a promise of everything to everyone, and what did they get EVERY TIME?
Death at worst, poverty at best – and the “people in charge” are worse than the ones they “revolutionized” out of the top spots.
Go ahead – change my mind and point to, as WretchardTheCat points out, ANY nation, once adopting Communism/Socialism/Fascism, that has ever succeeded and delivered on its Public Relations promises.
Compared to “Big Corporations,” who at least partially deliver what they promise, Marxism delivers nothing except repression and destitution.
I give you Cuba as the leading example today – who can’t even keep the lights on.
“Salesmanship” – and where is it happening? Ayup – our educational system. The New Left infected starting in the 1960s when their “militant revolutions” failed and followed the Italian Socialist Gramsci to take over the ramparts of America’s cultural institutions. They succeeded.
Why not – they insulated themselves from the private sector by living off taxpayers’ largesse in the public sector, claiming “academic freedom” to poison the well for everyone else.
