Notable Quote – Michael Walsh

Here’s the thing: They’re the 1 percent, but we’re the 99 percent. Their wealth may be much more than ours, but 99 is a much bigger number than one. So we should just gang up and take their money.

When one person takes the property of another, that’s tyranny, but when lots of people get together and do it, that’s democracy.

– Michael Walsh, syndicated columnist

He points out the essential fact and further enhances the point of this other definition of "the social contract". He points out, also, an essential truth that many have forgotten – when it is wrong for one, it is not right if all do it.  Most Conservatives, even if not Bible believing, understand the rightness of this:

"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s."

Yes, one of the 10 Commandments (Exodus 20:17, King James) – it points out that flaw that Envy brings.  Read Michael Walsh’s entire column – it is about how Envy spoils what one has instead of the content it should bring.

Progressives, socialists, and the like?  Even if it is "for someone else" fail to recognize this fundamental flaw in themselves and in their ideology even as they claim it is all about "fairness".

And the Occupy Wall Street movement, while saying it is about the stingy 1%, is really about the envy concerning "The Other" (something that Liberals keep accusing Conservatives about, hating "The Other").

As an evangelical Christian and Conservative with small "L" libertarian leanings, my fight is with Progressives forcing a collectivized, secular humanistic future upon us.
