“IS” Rep Kim Rice Plotting With Dems to Give Away The Republican Majority? [Update]

Remember when Republican NH House Rep Shawn Jaspar made a deal with the Democrats to get the Speaker’s gavel? Not a Republican best-moment in House History. Well, guess what? Rep. Kim Rice has been meeting with Democrat minority leaders to get their votes to do something similar. I’m not sure what that deal looks like, but … Read more

Did Shawn Jasper Change His Name To Mike Rogers?

Who is Mike Rogers? Well, he is supposedly a “conservative” Republican representing Alabama. In reality, he represents the globalist-warmonger/military-industrial complex … which he is uniquely positioned to do as “Chair” of the Armed Services Committee.

Setting the Record Straight

As with other elections, I dealt with a number of inquiries on the 2014 Speakers election. This included several inaccurate representations of the race that took place that year. This also includes former and current House Representatives working for advocacy groups.

Election After Action – Part…awe, who really wants to count? Let’s hear from the Jaspercrat

Let’s set the stage – this is 2006 all over again except the Rs kept the Oval Office this time.  Same sad story, though. And yeah, that would be Shawn Jassper, the so-called Republican Speaker of the NH House the first time he was elected by the Democrats (and a small handful of RINOs – … Read more

The Cost When Principle and Policy No Longer Matter

We continue with RLCNH chair Aaron Day on his threatened third party challenge to NH Sen. Kelly Ayotte, the failure of Medicaid/ObamaCare, and the cost to New Hampshire if the Republican State legislature reauthorizes expansion.

Jaspercrat Jamboree

Good Republican legislation is getting pigeon-holed by (r)epublican leadership because, well, they are spineless Jaspercrats dancing the tune of the Democrats that put them in power; plus the consent calendar, and keeping tabs on legislators, all in this weeks legislative update.

GrokTALK! February 21st, 2015

This week we talk about mini-dictator Shawn Jasper and the consent calendar; House leaderships approach to legislation they don’t want to defend; some painful facts about civil Asset Forfeiture and the NH House clerks office, and some good things about Industrial Hemp, Beer, the NH House clerk with Kevin Bloom and Kirk McNeil; we talk … Read more

Well, NH Constitution Article 10 does provide for a Revolution, doesn’t it? Was HB617 the flashpoint? Part 1

[Art.] 10. [Right of Revolution.] Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.

Well, Article 10 is meant to be used by the Citizens when Government is judged to be oppresive and tyrannical – but it seems like it is fitting what is going on in the NH House.  We’ve written extensively about HB617 which will raise the gas tax on NH Citizens big time.  Our beef is not that Democrats initiated this but that Republicans, from the Party of Low Taxes / Limited Government, voted to support Higher Taxes that will support Bigger Government.  And TWO of the Republican Leadership team in the NH House voted for it: David Hess and Shawn Jasper.

Rightfully so, both have been taking heat – especially Shawn Jasper.  The grassroots House members are LIVID – and Jasper just keeps pouring gas on himself in fanning the flames.  How do I know?  Man, have I gotten emails.  Let’s review a few of them, shall we (warning – this may get longish):

Steve? Here’s the Republican names that voted for the HB617 Gas Tax:

Yeah Steve, the figure I’ve seen is up to $1 Billion in new taxes embedded in HB617 over the next few years – and YOU get to help pay for them each and every time you put the gas nozzle into tank for a fill-up (that is, if you can afford the 83% rise in the State tax).  IMHO, simply because the Politicians can’t keep their cotton picking hands outta the proverbial cookie jar called the Highway Fund.  They complain that there are roads and bridges that NEED REPAIR NOW – yet most of them were red listed when the Democrats held the supermajorities in the NH House and Senate, and holding the Governorship.

You asked, I provide – the list of Republicans that helped the Democrats in the House making life more expensive for Joe and Jane SixPack:

Frank Tilton          Mark McConkey            John Graham     Shawn Jasper     Dave Danielson     Charlene Takesian        Dave Kidder

David Hess              Priscilla Lockwood       Bill Friel               About Khan             Dave Milz                 Kevin Waterhouse        John Sytek

Jim Grenier

Yeah.  Two of Gene Chandler’s Leadership team (bolded) – way to go Team!     Consistency of action. Discipline of message. What do you say about a Leadership Team that can’t vote straight?   Good news coming from this session for taxpayers, I’ll say.

SB 0120 – Let’s name the names, shall we? Jeb Bradley (R), Sharon Carson (R), Bob Odell (R), Shawn Jasper (R), Gary Richardson (D)

Let me get this off my chest: I am now ashamed that GraniteGrok, Meet the New Press (our former radio show), and I, did all we could to help Jeb Bradley, the prime sponsor of this Act, beat “Bathroom Bud” Martin in that special election that seems so long ago.  I was told he was a moderate Congressman – boardering on “squish”; I heard it but thought “well, that was ‘before my active time” and he’s sounding a whole lot more conservative now” and beat the drum.  Stupid me – he’s drifted Leftward ever since that first year.  And no, not happy with the results of the NH Senate last session either.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

One of my pet peeves lately is why is it that normal people can read the plain language of the Constitution and can understand it literally as written – and yet lawyers and politicians cannot?  How simple are the words “… no law….abridging the freedom of speech” – what is there to not understand? Five single syllable words, one with two, and one with three; this is elementary school level English.  Yes, while the Constitution is supposed to be binding on the US Congress, it is the Law of the Land, the foundational philosophy of our Constitutional Republic. The ordinary person who is NOT a lawyer keeps thinking “isn’t it about time to get rid of the lawyers, get rid of the prancing around with “case law” and nuances and penumbras that seem to emanate from black robed creatures when looking upon these words – and just read the words as written?
