Nashua GOP Steak Out! – Keynote Speaker: AZ Sheriff Joe Arpaio

Yesterday was the Nashua Republican Committee’s annual "Steak Out!" event. This year, the keynote speaker was Maricopa County, Arizona’s Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Having garnered much publicity over the years for how he has run the County’s jails and lately in enforcing the Rule of Law concerning illegal immigrants, he brought a folksy brand of humor … Read more

Micro-interview: Sheriff Joe Arpaio

Sheriff Joe, at the heart of the illegal immigration controversy, is speaking to the Nashua GOP Republicans at their annual Steak Out!.  He was graceful to take a few minutes with GraniteGrok…

Live Blogging – Jim Forsythe at the Gunstock Inn

Per usual, live streaming (if the fairly weak Wifi lasts – the Gunstock Inn / Mountainside (Gilford, NH) actually has a couple of access points, but I’m at the far end…sigh).  Tweeting if possible. Live Stream:

Live Blogging – and the ‘Grok has been invited

Not far from the house – check! A good conservative, Liberty loving candidate – check! Open mic – che….uh-oh….not. on. your. life. Thankfully, being a teetotaler, I can’t be persuaded THAT way. However, Skip, Remember – you’re working on saying "no" to challenges…. Hunch over the keyboard, look busy, and maybe they’ll think you’re doing … Read more

NH 9-12 Liberty Picnic – General John Stark Birthday Bash – Report Part 1

Jointly sponsored by the Rochester and Dover 9-12 groups, this past Saturday the ‘Grok was in Dover at NH’s Olympian Swimmer namesake outdoor complex, the Jenny Thompson Outdoor Pool.  While the crowd was a bit sparser than I had expected, we still had a good time – and a goodly number of speakers (including, as Jeff Chidester labeled it: "Candidate Kareoka").

This clip is of ; introductory ceremonies: Pledge of Allegiance, Invocation (by The Patriot Pastor, Garrett Lear), and opening remarks by Jeff Chidester and Jerry Delemus.

The introductory ceremonies:

The Patriot Pastor, Garrett Lear, then addressed the participants:

At the Seacoast Republican Women event – The Crowd – and who else it attracted…

Every indication is that the Democrat Party (and its core base, Progressives / incremental Socialists) is rather fearful of the upcoming election – and here in NH, they have every right to be.

Otherwise, how would you explain this crowd:

on an otherwise perfect late summer’s night??  A better shot after the jump showing the 350 PLUS in attendance.  Also, there were others…

Yup, the Democrats?  Now, for some, it’s just a job (I think) – look carefully in the picture above – see the guy in the blue shirt at the far end of the combined rooms?  Polite, quiet, and equipped with a camera.  Does the recording and then leaves.  He’s a regular at a lot of the events – and given the "tracker movement", they’re looking for more "macaca" moments that the Democrats might be able to use to stop the steamroller that is coming their way.

On the opposite end of the tracker mentality, there is Zandra Rice Hawkins

And I still find interesting the folks that work on the campaigns…

These are not always the Senior Advisor types, or the Strategies folks, but the folks I consider to be the shock troops – the folks that, day in and day out, just do all of the lowest level stuff that has to be done during a campaign – coordinating other volunteers, planting signs, calling people, and doing the setup and take down work for each and every event that a candidate goes to.

I love talking to these folks – the "blue collar" workers.  They are often a tad leery to talk to me, for obvious reasons – and I will walk up "to the line" but don’t wish to cross it.  Why?  Mostly, these are good folk – YOU may not like the candidate (or I, for that matter) that they are working for, but for many, this is how they feed themselves and their families – cut’em a break.  Sure, the Lakes Region Rigor Mortis Conservative has a high level of disdain for them that almost matches that of his hatred of the Candidates for which they work or volunteer (like getting into a screaming match with some volunteers that were trying to put up campaign signs near his home that were NOT for HIS candidates – a couple of them thought he was going to stroke out, he went so livid!).

Anyways, back to the campaign workers.  This one I had the chance to yak with before going into the hall to set up.  He smilingly said "You won’t get one of me!"

Silly person – challenging me to do something?  He was actually smiling when I took the pic – THEN I reminded him of his challenge that I wouldn’t be able to get his picture…smile went to ‘downcast’ in a femtosecond.

A couple of others:

Let’s play catch up, Part 2 – Alton Old Home Day Parade

Live Blogging! – An event concerning the 10th Amendment in Hollis tonite

Tenth Amendment Center
Jack For NH Governor

The ‘Grok will be at the  Lawrence Barn in Hollis, NH (28 Depot Street) for an event where Jack Kimball for NH Governor will be hosting Michael Boldin (the Founder of the Tenth Amendment Center) will be speaking concerning this:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

The event starts at 6:30pm; light refreshments will be provided.

The 10th Amendment; You know the part so long ignored, the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution,  that has the Constitution be a Limited document vs a Living document (as the Progressives would have you believe so that they can pay lip service to it, say the right words to it, and govern away from it [for their definition of "progress" is moving from First Principles).

At first, we were just asked to cover the event.  Well, Murphy’s Laws has kinda pushed us into being PART of the event.  The original text of this post was to include this:

So, Sean Mahoney’s online guy, Pat Hynes, is NOT among the powerful?

Am I done?  Maybe, maybe not…we’ll see.  In the mean time, I had emailed Patrick Hynes this:

I’m just a little bitty blogger with a small blog in small little NH.  You’re a national powerhouse who the monied powerful and powerful-wannabees are looking to hire; I’m not even the dot at the end of your sentence.

His response?

Your powerhouse rhetoric is just silly.
Well, according to this story in Politico, it certainly seems that I'm right - Patrick Hynes used to be a nationally rated blogger - now he's a national level political operative:

Not only is the blogosphere changing how voters consume information, it’s also creating new jobs in politics, policy and online communications consulting. Although there is still no formal job description for “blogger relations” staffers, these part communications, part research, part online political organizing specialists are a growing industry in the political world.

“It’s becoming as common to have someone managing communications with bloggers as it was to have a press secretary 10 years ago,” said Patrick Hynes, founder and president of Hynes Communications, a social media public affairs agency.

Now, you have to be good, to have a rep, to be included in a Politico story. I think this buttresses my argument. Think I'm kidding? If you are in the same story as Michelle Malkin, you're top notch.

RightOnline – Interview with Stella Lohmann

Stella walked into the Bloggers’ Lounge area and immediately commented on the hat I had on (my "Don’t Tread on me" of Gadsden Flag fame) but that she had a Freedom Czar hat from Laura Ingraham’s radio show – one upmanship!  So, I asked her to sit down and yak after learning that she was usually the one doing the interviewing (instead of being interviewed).  Thus, Part 1 was done:

However, I saw no hat – and chided her to bring it back.  Well, she did take the time to do so:

And then I had to take a quick pic of what was on the Right side (‘natch!) of her hat: a red, white, and blue TEA pot!

In showing off the had, we ended up doing Part 2 (after jump!)
