I’m on the email list for “Obama for something” so when I received my very own personalized email (Hey, they know me as  “Friend”) talking about Father’s Day from Caroline Kennedy, I just had to take notice:

Friend —

I grew up in the White House. I remember as a small child visiting my father in the Oval Office while he worked.  But really, we could have been growing up in any American home. We were just children, happy to see our dad — even if he was stepping out of a helicopter that had landed on our front lawn.  That’s why, on Father’s Day, I’m thinking of Michelle Obama and the girls, and the time they’ll get to spend with the President as a family.  I can appreciate how long the days can be — and how wonderful it feels to know that, no matter how full your father’s plate is, you’re the best part of his day and the most important part of his life.  So I’m joining Michelle and others all around the country to wish the President a happy Father’s Day.   As you acknowledge a special father figure in your own life, I hope you’ll join me by adding your name to tell Barack how much he means to all of us:

Riiiight.  So I, as a Father, should now get all  warm, fuzzy, and looney, to think that I need to send Obama a Father’s Day Card because he’s the President?  Or because he’s taking such a beating during this campaign that my simple gesture would make him feel better?

EMail Doodlings – Amnesty by ignoring Congress; Rule of Presidential Fiat

Well, my friend Julius emails me from time to time on various topics just because he knows that I.Just.Cannot.Resist in either to let him grumble a tad (hey, we all do it, right) or he wishes to push a button of mine to see what comes out.  This one, I’m not sure which one he was aiming for so here goes:

Hi Skip – I trust Father’s Day was kind to you, and you didn’t have to work

I have mixed feelings about this article, and was wondering what your take was.  I would normally welcome anyone willing to work and pay taxes vs someone who wants their unemployment benefits extended.  After all, who doesn’t want more workers willing to pay taxes? We can only hope Romney will reduce the 99 wk benefits back to 26…

PS – here’s hoping OH makes progress toward becoming an income-tax-free state.

Obama’s move on immigration is an unconstitutional disaster for the unemployed

President Obama thwarted the will of Congress and shunned the 20 million under-employed and unemployed Americans by announcing he will grant work permits to 2 million to 3 million illegal immigrants.

This appears to be an unconstitutional fiat that not only usurps congressional authority to set immigration policy but directly contradicts what Congress has already decided. The president suggests that his new policy is designed to enact as much of the DREAM Act amnesty as possible because Congress hasn’t acted on its own.  But Congress indeed has acted — three times in votes that rejected granting these illegal aliens the legal residency and work permits that the president now says he will deal out all by himself    Sure, the kids either came here under protest (few kids want to leave their friends behind) or outright dragged with their parents.

The View From Underwater…or…About Those Obama Job Creation Numbers…

The economy needs to create at least 150,000 new jobs every month just to keep the ship from sinking any further (and the ship is already in pretty deep).  That 150,000 keeps us where we are, wherever that may be.  With the lowest labor participation rate in decades here is not so great.

But Democrats would rather talk about the 27 month scenario in which Mr. Obama’s economy (that is not his economy) has created private sector jobs for 27 consecutive months.  Under the best of circumstances  his tenure has seen the creation of maybe 158,000 jobs every month–in 27 months.  But he’s been President a lot longer than that.

If we start with the salvation-stimulus and its promises–like we’ll never see 8% unemployment which is true if by that you mean we haven’t been able to get down to 8% since the stimulus–and include all the months in the Obama Presidency he has only created 87,000 jobs per month.  After stimulus, jobs bills, mortgage bills, car loan bills, TARP 2.359, Bride of stimulus, and every bill was a jobs bill bill, we added five trillion to the deficit, grew every department there was by 30-50%, and still can’t come up with an economy that doesn’t’ run 100,000 jobs short every month Obama is in office just to tread water.  And maybe water will give you a better perspective of how bad this really is…

When it comes to Green Jobs, Obama Administration: “When I use a word, it means just what I choose it to mean”

From Alice in Wonderland: “When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.”

Well, I could easily say that the Obama Administration has been nonsensical in how it uses words (been listening to Jay Carney, his Press Secretary lately?), and in a lot of cases, be at least half right.  However, to be truthful, spin is non-partisan knowing no bounds on either side of the aisle.  But this is just pure political gold in nonsense in a vain attempt to pervert common sense by an Administration straining to live up to a promise simply by redefining redefinition of a classification of who does what.  Obama made a promise to create 5 million new Green Jobs – at times, with almost gay abandon (betcha THAT will rouse the Political Correctness Police – but isn’t it LGBT Month at the Obama Department of State this month?).  Looks like he’s hard up to fulfill that promise, eh?

Like: someone who pumps gas into a school bus is counted as a Green Job?  Is that really what the Obama Admin wants a “green job” to mean?  Sheesh, and I thought that fossil fuels were THE ENEMY?  Something to be hated and done away with?  So, someone who actually SELLS oil / gas – that’s now a Green Job?  Does that mean that soon, the Gulf will be soon getting Obama’s blessing, and the oil and gas industry will flourish again (after all, that Green Job pumping gas into the school bus can’t do his job without theirs’)?

What is amusing is to watch a grown man, who in other setting might be seen as a ‘serious fellow’, squirming knowing that there is absolutely no come back for Congressman Issa’s questions.  A process by which should have you, loyal reader, thinking – what other stupidity is in there that bureaucracy thinks is “highbrow” and “an ultimate thought”?

Is this starting to show that Obama isn’t a good enough manager of the economy?

Obama-Unemployment May 2012As if we already didn’t know it.  He keeps blaming Bush for the economy he inherited; I remember the economy that Reagan inherited too.  Reagan merely said “let’s get down to working at making it work” and produced one of the (if not THE) largest recoveries ever in US history.  It did take a while, but he didn’t whine about things the way that Obama has.  In three and a half years, the only time he has acknowledged that he would be held accountable is when he said “If I don’t have this done in three years, there is going to be a one term proposition“.

They why does he keep insisting “HEY!  It’s NOT MY FAULT”?  It has been one excuse after another: Bush, Europe, the weather, a tsumani, Republicans (even as he “owned” Congress as Democrats controlled it before he was elected  and for his first two years) and at a cost of over $800 Billion.  Meanwhile, the latest jobs report yesterday shows his Administration’s continued ineptitude in setting up and implementing the policies in the best way to help American families: setting those conditions that make it easiest to get a job.

People don’t like whiners, Mr. President, they want results.  I understand that Government does not create jobs – it does, simply because of its size and its rule / law ability, set the environment that tells others the conditions under which they can operate and thus, decide to hire.  What the market is saying is “Mr President, we find your environment wanting, and wanting too much from us in believing you will do the right things.  Thus, we will wait”.  Now, one month upwards is not a trend, but it is indicative that even a President and all the smartest Progressive ideas can implement a command and control system that would truly meet the needs of the nation’s businesses that are, in turn,  supposed to meet the needs of over 300 million consumers.

I expect that soon, Mr. Obama will soon revert to bashing business for “not caring about American families” by hiring the unemployed” and continuing his class warfare scorched earth policies.  Bashing may indeed be a campaign strategy but it is not an economic one – too bad (for all of us) that Obama doesn’t understand the difference.

The problem is that there are just 6 months left in this campaign – while most people DON’T want to get involved in politics, they are paying attention to the economics coming up to the vote.  And they will do the one thing that often Liberals decry – they will vote their self-interest and their wallets.  Politics is fine but for most, taking care of their family is job one.  And they will ensure that the person best suited to enable that will get the nod.

And this above result is not going to cement the feeling that Obama is up to the job.

Ask Jeanne Shaheen – Where’s The Oversight?

According to this video (from Obama Isn’t Working.com) Mr. Obama has blown through $16 billion ($16,000,000,000.00) on public equity green energy gambles that have cost jobs and lost our money, much of it to Big Obama donors, and cronies.

So here’s a question?  New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen cut her teeth in her first Senate race by raging about taxpayer hand outs to big oil.  These “Handout’s,” as it turns out, were actually incentives that reduced how much of those Oil companies legal profits would be taxed.  Less taxes on the oil companies money, not handing them billions of our money.  Most people don’t know the difference, they just see the spin.

So how does that compare to Mr. Obama and his Department of Energy giving direct grants and loans (of our money),  totaling tens of billions, to companies that are all going bankrupt or out of business?  (No Spin.)  Does it make a difference that Senator Shaheen is a huge supporter of Green energy boondoggles, sits on the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, as well as three Energy Subcommittees on Energy, Public Lands and Forests, and Water and Power, who would presumably have some interest in how that money is being wasted?

Where is the legislative oversight Senator Shaheen?  We are out 16 Billion (so far), and I can’t recall hearing a peep out of you about that.

Really?  Does Obama truly believe that just because his outlook is a  “government-centered”, that his version of venture capitalism using public tax money is better than private money?  Sure does – he keeps spending more and more of it.  Problem is, like many Progressives, he places more importance on the intent than the results:

Piling on Jeanne Shaheen’s Greenie green suck

And as Steve points out here (and mine), being Green means having LOTS of green – and just watching it swirl down the toilet (data points via The Enterprise Blog):

  • …candidate Obama promised to create 5 million green jobs, at the low, low cost of only $15 billion per year
  • Obama spent $90 billion of his stimulus package on green energy projects, including weatherization of buildings and development of electric vehicles. Yet, by the end of last year, just 16,100 people landed new jobs in the so-called green industry, Labor Department statistics show, far short of the 200,000 jobs the White House projected it would help create each year.
  • It is amazing to see just how badly the government can do at these things: 16,000 jobs out of 200,000 predicted is about 8%—a mere 92% underperformance rate.
