Former New Hampshire Governor John Lynch liked to talk about how his administration had overseen a historic decrease in the number of kids who dropped out of public school with a mission to get that number down to zero. Not such an absurd idea when you consider how it is that he managed the ‘reported’ decrease it in the first place.

Lynch and the Democrats simply changed the name and the definition of a “drop out” and stopped counting anyone who dropped out by any other name.

There is a very healthy and necessary discussion taking place on Facebook over why Marilinda Garcia may not be a Libertarian-enough congressional candidate for some of the Libertarian’s in New Hampshire. They are concerned about her positions as a state rep on Gay Marriage, marijuana, abortion, junk like that. But it never occurred to anyone (that I saw–and apologies if I missed it) to ask the question that answers all those questions.

So I pointed that out for them.

Senator Kelly Ayotte was on WGIR with Jack Heath the other morning (per-recorded interview if I’m not mistaken) to talk about the effects of a recent decision affecting the local Fishing industry. She is trying to overcome the arbitrary observations of a local regional board, that have resulted in a decision with the force of law, that now prohibits these small businesses from fishing Cod beyond newly established limits which the Fisherman find absurd. The effect can and will likely have a crippling effect on New Hampshire Fisherman, their livelihood, and their families.

This is a prime example of how bureaucratic power expands as a result of enabling legislation and then acts based on the interests of those who populate such organs, directed by like-minded special interests, to the detriment of everyone else.

Rail Propaganda Campaign Approved By NH Executive Council

If a big pharmaceutical company was given $40,000.00 by the New Hampshire’s Executive Council to advertise the benefits of a drug therapy that had not only not yet been approved but was not even known to be viable, would people be up in arms about that? I think they probably would. So how about some outrage over this?

The New Hampshire Executive Council, by a vote of 4 – 1, has just spent $40,000.00 so that the NH-DOT and the New Hampshire Rail Transit Authority can hire…

“… a consultant for the sole purpose of public outreach and public relations to increase the public awareness of the mission of the NHRTA … and to educate the public on the benefits of rail as part of a comprehensive multi-modal transportation system, both statewide and specifically within the N.H. Capital Corridor.”

The NHRTA’s sole reason for existing is to develop commuter rail in the Granite State without regard for long term costs, efficiency, or even need, all questions which have been answered time and again, but not to the satisfaction of proponents because the answers were not favorable to their cause.

Eastwooding The NH Senate- Where are the Roll Call Votes?

If party designations connote principles, and party pledges imply performance, and we extend that assumption to the relationship between electoral action and legislative response, then it should not be beyond the pale to expect the elected to provide proof of individual effort toward securing the principles and pledges upon which their election to office was presumably based.

And why do I care? Apart from an obvious and general interest in politics, as a conservative, I’d simply like to see some regular and consistent evidence that those people in the state legislature who style themselves as conservatives are, in fact, voting like conservatives, without necessarily having to go through some other groups filter (or here-say) to arrive at a conclusion, one way or the other.

The Minimum Wage From Yet Another View

The notion that New Hampshire needs to set a minimum wage higher than the current and equally arbitrary federal rate is as flawed a notion as the faux-benefit of a federal minimum wage in the first place. But New Hampshire Democrats and some Democrats elected as Republicans, continue to make a case for it.

But allowing the government to define an arbitrary price point for labor is absurd and anyone who has ever had a job already knows why.

Look Who Is Against Democrat Background Check Bill

New Hampshire Democrats attacked Republican Senator Kelly Ayotte’s vote on the background check bill by supporting the out of state anti-gun money spent by New York City Mayor while bringing someone from Connecticut here to tell us how we need to support the same kinds of laws for New Hampshire that failed in Connecticut–as if we couldn’t make that choice for ourselves.

Well someone has a message for those New Hampshire Democrats and Mayor Bloomberg…

The mayor of New York City is running ads against me because I opposed President Obama’s gun control legislation. Nothing in the Obama plan would have prevented tragedies like Newtown, Aurora, Tucson or even Jonesboro. I’m committed to finding real solutions to gun violence while protecting our Second Amendment rights.

It’s Probably Not A Scheme To Pass An Income Tax

Starting with the downfall of the Casino bill in the New Hampshire House, voices started peeping about how this was really some progressive plot to pass an income tax. I guess the two were being connected somehow? The Democrats voted the Casino bill down so they could use its death as an excuse to summon up a new broad based tax.

Fortunately for us the same House that voted down the casino bill never included the assumed Casino revenue in their budget. The State senate never included any casino money in their budget either. No one except the governor did and her budget has now been through the House and the Senate sans Casino revenue of any kind.

So relax.
