Breaking: Andrew Hemingway to run for NH GOP Chair

Breaking details: The once cleared table for Jennifer Horn to assume “by accolade” the NH GOP Chairmanship may have gotten a rightward tilt to it.  Former RLCNH Chair Andrew Hemingway has announced that he will be opposing Horn’s ascendancy. I have been told that I will receive more details later on this afternoon. Hmmm, the … Read more

As Obama continues his quest to “perfect us” – our food is next

Obama: “and a union that could be and should be perfected over time. “ From the Washington Examiner comes news that while Moochella has “improved” our kids school lunches, he’s wanting to “perfect” our eating habits – or pay for it: “I think there is no question that the way Americans eat and what Americans … Read more

Data Point – The Rich DO pay more in taxes

All Obama and the Dems can say is that certain folks don’t pay their fair share in taxes.  I know that there are some socialist / Progressives that would be fine with taking it all after a certain point (“you should not be able to make more than $5 million per year!”) and a high percentage on everything before that.  Equality, they say.  But the way they talk about it, the rich pay next to nothing; hardly:

% income tax paid
Adjusted gross income as a share of AGI
$1 to under $10,000 -13.6
$10,000 to under $20,000 -11.5
$20,000 to under $30,000 -3.7
$30,000 to under $50,000 3.1
$50,000 to under $100,000 7.5
$100,000 to under $200,000 12
$200,000 to under $500,000 19.6
$500,000 to under $1,000,000 24
$1,000,000 to under $1,500,00 24.9
$1,500,000 to under $2,000,000 25.1
$2,000,000 to under $5,000,000 24.9
$5,000,000 to under $10,000,000 24.2
$10,000,000 or more 20.7

As the chart shows, the only folks paying nothing are the poor – and with the EITC, the govt actually pays them. I bet you’re noticing “Skip, look at the top two brackets – they are paying LESS – you LIE!”.  Er, no – and this is where the Dems pull the magic trick of demogoguing over the low-information voter:

Update to Barry / Stacie Lawton’s NH House Representative career

Union Leader: “I don’t think it would look good for the state,” she said. “I don’t think it would look good for the party, and I don’t think that the citizens would like to see their beloved representative-elect be expelled.” As Steve pointed out in his post, Stacie Marie / Barry Laughton decided that disclosing … Read more

The NH State Dept heads have just placed the crack candy of Progressive politicians in front of Guv-elect Maggie Hassan – what’s she gonna do?

Is this a sucker’s bet?  That Maggie is already set to ratchet up the spending (and the taxes to support them) – and this is the excuse she’ll use (emphasis mine)?

CONCORD – Gov.-elect Maggie Hassan issued an upbeat but sobering call for agency heads to lower their expectations as hearings on a new, two-year state budget commenced Monday.

In their initial budget requests, state administrators asked for a 26 percent increase in total spending to a record $11.97 billion for the cycle that begins June 30.

Spending from state tax and fee sources alone would go up 19 percent, to $3.3 billion, if those who run state departments get their way.

Earlier this month, Hassan won election to replace retiring Gov. John Lynch vowing to undo deep cuts in state aid for higher education and acute care hospitals.

That rise in spending will pretty much erase the downsizing of the State’s budget during Speaker O’Brien’s tenure.

Democrats – rigging the race card for 150 years….

This whole Rice affair shows the absolutely disgusting double standard that the Democrats have towards racism.  Their protestations are nothing more than just another political tool – they could really care less about real rascism, for if they did, they’d never throw the race card except for when it really was a case of racism. … Read more

OK, back to school – Vocab test!

OK, something a bit lighter for the morning.  Do you know what these words mean?

  • Glabella (ever look in a mirror?)
  • Vagitus (no, get your minds out of the gutter)
  • Chanking (sorry, no teaser could I come up with)
  • Zarf (Z! not a B!)
  • Niggly Wiggly (no, not the convenience store)
  • Darkle (my favorite new word)
  • Souffle Cup (no, it is not what you think it is!)
  • Snollygoster (yes, it has something to do with a lack of principles)
  • Natiform (a warning not to get too behind)
  • Tintinnabulation (ding dongs)

Blogline of the Day – from Gold Rush

Mother of Parker Schnabel (18 year old gold mine operator) upon being asked if she was happy with the condition of his room at her home: You know, I’ve said to Roger, you know, c’mon, we can’t get our child to clean his room!  Like what have we done wrong? What do we do, take … Read more

Blaming the need for Generators on tax cuts? Income Inequality??

“It’s manifestly silly (and highly polluting) for every fine home to have a generator. It would make more sense to invest those resources in the electrical grid so that it wouldn’t fail in the first place….So time and again, we see the decline of public services accompanied by the rise of private workarounds for the wealthy.”

I read this column by “vaunted” NY Times columnist Nicholas Kristoff and stared at amazement at the words that stuttered across my eyeballs.  What was I missing?  How come I could not divine the missing links to how the heck he starts off with one observation and lays blame on something that seems to be totally unconnected?  Look, he’s a high priced NY professional journalist and I’m just a ordinary schlub in central New Hampsha – is that it? Or is it because he’s a prominent member of the circle of stratospheric Lefties and I’m just a grassroots Rightist?  A “thinker” vs “knuckledragger” (as some on the Left tolerantly call folks like me)?  Are we on the Conservative side of the aisle, TEA Party philosophy, just incapable of understanding such lofty sentiments about how the need for generators is totally because some people have too much and the Government won’t take it away from them (reformatted and emphasis mine):

In upper-middle-class suburbs on the East Coast, the newest must-have isn’t a $7,500 Sub-Zero refrigerator. It’s a standby generator that automatically flips on backup power to an entire house when the electrical grid goes out. In part, that’s a legacy of Hurricane Sandy. Such a system can cost well over $10,000, but many families are fed up with losing power again and again.  (A month ago, I would have written more snarkily about residential generators. But then we lost power for 12 days after Sandy — and that was our third extended power outage in four years. Now I’m feeling less snarky than jealous!)

More broadly, the lust for generators is a reflection of our antiquated electrical grid and failure to address climate change. The American Society of Civil Engineers gave our grid, prone to bottlenecks and blackouts, a grade of D+ in 2009.   So Generac, a Wisconsin company that dominates the generator market, says it is running three shifts to meet surging demand. About 3 percent of stand-alone homes worth more than $100,000 in the country now have standby generators installed…

Every time I see “our”, I just shake my head.  So, Conflation #1 – We all own that grid according to St. Nich.  Hmmm, last time I knew, the majority of that grid is owned by large publicly owned companies (or, like here in NH, a co-op).  Sure, there are some electrical systems that are metropolitan in nature – the city owns it.  That means, in THAT case, that “we” own it – but only if you are a resident of that town, yes?

Thanksgiving Day message from our Government: ah yes,THIS is what we pay good money for…

Yes, where would we all be without them – so lost in so mismanaging our lives?  Once again, the taxpayer funded US Govt (aka, our supremely concerned Nanny State) believes that we taxpayers need reminders to watch out for ourselves as we celebrate time with family and friends in thanking God for the bounty He has given us.

Sidenote: except for perhaps Obama who, once again, decided that giving thanks to God is semi-redundant for His Obamaworshipness:

“…We’re also grateful that this country has always been home to Americans who see these blessings not simply as gifts to enjoy, but as opportunities to give back. Americans who believe we have a responsibility to look out for those less fortunate – to pull each other up and move forward together…”

Yes, we have ourselves to thank – all together now as yer movin’ FORWARD! together to that cliff/tipping point with us, like it or not! Can’t he leave the political stuff alone for just ONE speech?

Yes, these same folks who are otherwise indistinguishable from the rest of us except that we pay the taxes that form their pay checks.  Anyways, here are the pithy pronouncements for we plebes for this Thanksgiving Day; from CNSNews is this post:

Gov’t Tells Americans What to Discuss at Holiday Dinner; Declares Thanksgiving ‘Family Health History Day’

(CNSNews.com) – The Thanksgiving holiday comes with a series of advisories and admonitions from your favorite Uncle Sam:

Boiling down, do you really think that Govt would send a message that actually meshes with the real reason for today?

  • Transportation Department – “buckle up and slow down,”
  • FDA – watch those meds carefully when travelling to keep them away from the kiddos (gee, did they want us to buckle them in too?)

A disheartened question from a reader – why?

Facebook Doodlings – So, Greg Carson, Secretary of the NH GOP is demanding “unity” – Part I?

And yes, once again, I decide to weigh in.  His opening remark – well, I can’t quote it from FB because he decided to take himself out of the thread and erased all traces of himself, but it started with someone asking the simple question of “Who for Republican Minority Leader in the NH House?”. Fortunately, I keep all my emails which now provides a nice little trail of breadcrumbs from the NH GOP Secretary on “Party Unity” and other sundry bon mots:

…I’m not a House member any more so its none of my business as to who Rep’s vote for but …

…If anyone wants my opinion about selecting a Minority Leader I would be glad to give it…off-line. This is an issue for House members, not the peanut gallery, the State Committee or anyone else.

And took a slap at a Libertarian leaning guy on that thread as well:

this is a conversation regarding Republican Leader not Libertarian Leader or do you have a recommendation for the Dem’s too. LoL!

And continued to state that one is “either a Republican or is a Libertarian…not both.”

Ah-hemm.  Nobody else’s business as to who our “elected employees / representatives” vote for? And my impression about the “LoL!” was not so much the “Laugh”. My response ( translated from FB to be more bloggish and correctly some typo / grammer stupidities):

Wanna be miserable? RingWingNews has the recipe fer ya!

John Hawkins of RightWingNews is known for “lists”.  Lists of what not to do, lists of what to do, interesting stuff lists, advice lists….this one is a good read.  A seven-step process to keep you in the bottom quarter of the misery index (success at being sad?):

1) Don’t pursue your ideal self

Abraham Maslow once said, “If you plan on being anything less than you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life.”

2) Isolate yourself.

People are flighty, they go away, they let you down…

3) Make other people responsible for your happiness.

Do you know who cares as much as you do about your happiness?…

4) Spend a lot of time focused on things you can’t control.

Worrying will wear you down under the best of circumstances, but if you really want to ramp your frustration level up to 11, spend your time worrying about things you can’t control…

5) Think short term all the time.
