GrokTALK! Show #156

This week Skip and Mike welcome NH Congressional candidate Jack Flanagan. Then, from circa.com, Sara Carter calls in to talk about the risk of a Benghazi-like attack in Afghanistan. Plus the news of the week filtered through the worldview of the Conservative  bloggers at GraniteGrok.com.

Clinton a “Finest” Secretary of State? Ridiculous!!

President Obama says Secretary Clinton has been one of our country’s finest Secretaries of State.  Huh??  Is the President now smoking something other than cigarettes?

Is the world safer, more peaceful, are threats reduced, is our country more respected around the world, are people more free than they were when Hillary took over as Secretary of State?  No, no, no, no and no!

The Middle East is in turmoil and the power of radical Muslims is increasing (with our help!!).  Non-aggressive governments in Egypt and Libya have been replaced, with Hillary’s and Obama’s help, with anti-American governments that want to destroy Israel.  The Obama administration armed al Queda affiliates in Libya and Syria.

Is it Time To Pull Out…of Chicagostan?

Chicago - more murders than deaths in warWND is reporting that since the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan (2001 to present) 2,166 Americans have died there.  From 2003 to present, 4,797 people have been murdered in the city of Chicago.

Chicagostan is more dangerous to the life expectancy of American’s than Afghanistan.  And in case you forgot, Afghanistan is a war zone.

And remember Iraq?

Operation Iraqi Freedom, the name for the war in Iraq, which started March 20, 2003, and ended Dec. 15, 2011, saw a total of 4,422 killed.

We had to ‘pull out’ of Iraq.  No more American blood would be spilled there.  So is it time to pull out of Chicagostan?

A “Responsible Plan to end War in Afghanistan”

(H/T: “Rebuilding” – Obama for America campaign via Hot Air) Obama thinks this is the epitome of how to fight a war: just bring the troops home, declare victory; done.  Problem is, there’s another side in this war that hasn’t agreed at all to ending the war.  War is NEVER unilaterally declared done until the … Read more

President Obama’s Failing Foreign Policy

Claims that President Obama’s foreign policy is successful can only be explained by pure partisanship or by criteria putting the interests of others ahead of those of our country and our citizens.

We credit President Obama for killing Osama and other al Qaeda leaders.  Obama outlawed enhanced interrogations that led to Osama.  The attack was delayed almost a year after Osama’s location was known.  Obama prepared to blame  someone else if the raid failed.  Obama’s quick crowing about Osama’s death destroyed the value of the intelligence that the raid gathered.  But, Osama is dead.  Congratulations.

NH Democrats Silent On Obama Death Toll

Afghanistan-War-Death-Toll mostly under Obama's watchCharacter matters.  Democrats have none.  For all their mewling about body counts, we’ve heard next to nothing (actually, nothing) about the brave men and women who have been wounded or killed fighting the Democrat parties rhetorical ‘Good War’ over in Afghanistan, since Obama has been in charge.

Under former President George W. Bush, 575 American soldiers died and fewer than 3,000 were wounded in Afghanistan. This means under Obama, at least 1,405 soldiers have died and nearly 15,000 additional soldiers have been wounded, which means 70% of the deaths  and nearly 80% of the injuries in Afghanistan have occurred under Obama’s watch.

(emphasis mine)

New Hampshire Democrats are on the hook for this…and not just that pair of  Hypocrat harpies running for congress, Carol-Ann-Shea-McKluster.

Bill Whittle of PJ Media again. And spot-on as usual. The thing is, Whittle’s video is “overtly” about the Islamofascist terrorists of Al Qaida…and about how every strategic move made by the Bush Administration in answer to the 9/11 attacks worked brilliantly. Email Doodlings – The wars may be ending, but will this wrong headed perception?

Obama has unilaterally ended the Iraq war (hmmm, didn’t he rail against that “Cowboy Unilateralist” Bush for making decisions on his own?) and is on his way in doing the same in Afghanistan.  And while I had some words about it here, this is not the thrust of this post.  Instead, it is this:

Neo-cons have no problem sacrificing their own children to the war machine. That sounds harsh, but it’s the truth

It brought back a memory of something very similar – it ignited my ire by effective saying the same thing:

Finally, if you believe in this mission, whatever it really is, are you willing to die or send your children to die for it?

This time, it started off with a discussion back aways about Sarah Palin getting into the Primary race but quickly morphed from that to this and I never expected to hear that from a non-Liberal friend.  In essence, the far Left and the far Right / Libertarian movement have met and in a very ugly fashion in accusing parents of willingly sending their kids to die for an ideology.  This is wrong at several different levels and to be clear, made my blood pressure rise – so I started to answer:

Obama owns it, now. Will he break it, later?

From Iraq (NY Times):

BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki of Iraq threatened on Wednesday to abandon an American-backed power-sharing government created a year ago, throwing the country’s fragile democracy into further turmoil just days after the departure of American troops and potentially tarnishing what has been cast as a major foreign policy achievement for President Obama.

In a nearly 90-minute news conference broadcast on tape-delay, Mr. Maliki defied his rivals and pushed back on all fronts in Iraq’s deepening political crisis, threatening to release investigatory files that he claimed implicated his opponents in terrorism.

He also threatened the Kurds, a valuable ally with close ties to the Americans, warning that there would be “problems” if they protected Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi, who fled to the semiautonomous Kurdish region in recent days to escape an arrest warrant on charges that he ran a death squad responsible for assassinations and bombings.

Why should Maliki continue with the “American-backed power-sharing government”?  Effectively, Obama has taken the troops out ahead of time and are now leaving the Iraqi field wide open for other-than-American influence – read that as Iran.  Obama can now be said to have created a political vacuum in the region (or to be kind, a partial at the least; you and I would not last long breathing it).  Sure, with 16,000 personnel stationed at our embassy there we’ll have a presence there but a civilian in a region that loves the strong horse and derides the weak one.  Obama has shut the door on the American influence by signaling weakness in an area that will exploit such a sign.
