Today, on your morning update, The Inconvenient Truth landed on the world in 2006, so in celebration of its twentieth anniversary, let’s take a look at a few of the lies and just how badly Gore missed the mark.

Steve (00:00)
Welcome to your Monday, June 15th, 2026. Morning update. Twenty years ago, Al Gore released An Inconvenient Truth. He started a crisis, a chaos, and a redistribution of wealth that continues to this day, and has moved trillions of dollars around the planet to useless and unproductive things that do not solve the problem he claimed existed.

But since it’s been twenty years and GraniteGrok’s been around for twenty years too, we’re having a birthday, and we thought, why not take a look at a couple of his key predictions and see how he did.

First, the disappearance of Arctic Summer Sea Ice. The prediction Gore highlighted Rapid Arctic ice loss and referenced studies suggesting the North Pole could be ice-free in summer within years; the timelines were as short as five to seven years. We made fun of him in twenty thirteen, and again in the early twenty twenties, and of course, as you will have noticed, there has been no ice-free summer, just boring post-Ice Age melting that would have gone unnoticed had it not contradicted all the hyperbolic histrionics.

Number two, no more snow on Kilimanjaro within a decade. That would have been 2016. Yes, the film featured this prominently as an example of rapid glacier melt. Here’s a picture of Mount Kilimanjaro, reportedly taken in 2026.

There has been some reduction in snow, but it’s really pretty much just boring post-Ice Age melting that would have gone unnoticed had it not contradicted all the hyperbolic histrionics. Number three, Glacier National Park. Glacier’s gone. Or formerly known as Glacier National Park; predictions within 15 years by 2021, the park’s glaciers would largely disappear, requiring a name change.

Actually, I wrote about this story.

In recent years, the National Park Service prominently featured brochures, signs, and films that boldly proclaimed that all glaciers at GNP were melting away rapidly. But now officials seem to be scrambling to hide or replace their previous hysterical claims while avoiding any notice to the public that the claims were inaccurate. Teams from Lysander Spooner University visiting the park each September have noted the GNP’s most famous glaciers, such as the Grinnell Glacier and the Jackson Glacier, appear to have been growing, not shrinking, since about 2010. The Jackson Glacier, easily seen from the Going-to-the-Sun Highway, may have grown as much as 25% or more over the past decade.

And while there has been some glaciers that have shrunk, there have been others that have grown, all of which would have gone unnoticed if not for the hyperbolic. Histrionics.

Temperature and overall warming. Prediction? CO2 levels rising sharply. Driving warming. Ice melt, heat waves, wildfires, and droughts increasing. When these catastrophic things failed to happen, you will have noticed they’ve changed the name of global warming a couple times. They went with the one degree C will be the end of us. Yahya. And they changed it to 1.5, and they will continue to change it as the weather fails to cooperate, as the planet continues to move along, and as the predictions continue to fail.

And hey, I almost forgot this one. Sea level rise in coastal flooding. Prediction: dramatic animation showed 20-foot rises flooding places like Florida, Manhattan, Shanghai, and Bangladesh due to rapid Greenland and West Antarctic ice melt, implying major near-term impacts. No twenty-foot rise or widespread inundation of the depicted scale has occurred. Such extreme scenarios are projected over centuries, not decades.

And of course, we’ve discussed this in the past. Everybody knows that this has absolutely nothing to do with climate, weather, species, habitat, or anything else. It’s all just wealth redistribution to undermine capitalism and free markets.

And we have to admit that they were successful at redistributing wealth. As I opened with, trillions of dollars have been redirected from useful productive purposes to things that did absolutely nothing except enrich some people at the expense of others. Not exactly the way you imagined it, because when they talk about redistributing wealth, they say, We’re going take it from rich people and give it to poor people when in fact what happens is they take it from everybody and give it to themselves.

Al Gore, the Clinton VP and failed presidential candidate, might be worth as much as $300 million for being wrong about just about everything.

That’s it for today. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
