Today, on your Morning Update, securing your own supply chains makes sense for more reasons than not, so why did we give them up to our enemies and others, and why would anyone object to doing everything in our power to get them back?

Hey there, and welcome to your Friday, May 15th, 2026, morning update.
Mike Rowe had a question on his podcast, The Way I Heard It. It’s a good question.
And why would you do that? Well, the illusion that was created was global warming. Climate change.
But even if they were right about CO2 emissions, even though CO2 is just a trace gas in the atmosphere and essential to all life on Earth.
You would be right to question our obsession with offshoring all our manufacturing jobs to places like China.
We’ve been doing it for 30 years.
But if you’re even remotely concerned about emissions, reversing that ought to be your priority job number one.
China has outpaced the entire world in emissions, followed by the rest of Asia, India, Africa.
This means that offshoring our jobs to these places has been exponentially worse for the planet than having them here.
It’s also worse for our human rights, human flourishing.
and human health, especially in those places where we’ve offshored all that work.
and enriching tyrants and despots is never a good idea.
Enriching them at the expense of a pearl-clutching, chest-pounding climate crusade? Well, that just sounds crazy.
Put another way, to answer Mike’s question, we absolutely don’t want to offshore those things. We want to onshore them. We want to onshore them because it will make America better. We get more jobs, we secure critical supply chains, the wealth gets created, and it stays here.
And we will do it cleaner and better than anyone else on the planet. And when all the investment is here, when all the materials are here, that’s where all the innovation happens.
Since that’s obvious, anyone who supports that would think, yeah, I should support Mr. Trump. I should support Republicans, break down trade barriers, and use that tariff dashboard. Help make America great again.
Steel, aluminum, microchips, pharmaceuticals, automaking, energy infrastructure. The list gets longer every single day. Cleaner production. A better national security posture, real jobs, and look, fewer emissions.
That’s it for today. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
